Scalloped edges on the tongue can indicate pressure / patterns in the mouth.
This often happens when the tongue is not resting in its ideal position and is adapting to limited tongue space or altered function such as a dysfunctional atypical swallow. It may also be a red flag for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
While not a diagnosis on its own, it can be a useful observation in understanding oral posture, swallowing and breathing patterns.
