As we wrap up the month, let’s take a moment to check in 👇

Are we noticing:
✔️ More nasal breathing?
✔️ Less open mouth posture?
✔️ Better awareness of where the tongue is resting?
✔️ Slower, more intentional chewing at mealtimes, with lips closed?

Progress doesn’t have to be perfect — it just has to be consistent.

What’s one habit your family focused on this month?

Thumb sucking and pacifiers are completely normal in early development 🤍

But when they continue longer than expected (past the age of 3), they can begin to influence:
• Jaw growth
• Tooth alignment
• Tongue posture

The goal isn’t to feel guilt — it’s education and awareness.

If you’re unsure about timing, how to break the habit or next steps, we’re here to support you 🌿

Mealtime is more than just nutrition — it’s an opportunity to support development 🌿

Try incorporating:
🥕 Crunchy, whole foods
🪑 Upright posture while eating
⏳ Slower, mindful chewing
🚫 Less screen distraction

These small shifts help strengthen the muscles used for breathing, chewing, and swallowing.

Simple. Consistent. Effective.

Where is your tongue resting right now? 👀

The ideal position is:
➡️ Gently resting on the roof of the mouth
➡️ Lips closed
➡️ Breathing through the nose

This small detail plays a big role in facial development, airway health, and overall function. Tip: Your tongue should be resting in this position day/night when you are not eating or speaking.

Most people have never been taught this — and that’s okay. Now you know!

Why does nasal breathing matter?

Breathing through the nose isn’t just a preference — it’s how the body is designed to function 👃

Nasal breathing helps:
✨ Filter and humidify air
✨ Support proper jaw development
✨ Improve sleep quality
✨ Regulate the nervous system

If you find yourself often breathing through your mouth, it’s worth exploring “why”.
Awareness is the first step, with our guidance change will follow.

Sometimes the signs are subtle…

Here are a few things we look for:
• Mouth breathing
• Snoring, sleep talking or restless sleep
• Bed Wetting
• Thumb sucking or pacifier use (beyond age 3)
• Difficulty chewing certain foods
• Open mouth posture

These habits can affect more than just the mouth — they’re connected to sleep, focus, mood regulations and facial/jaw growth.

If you’ve noticed any of these, you are not alone. We are here to help.

How your child starts their day matters more than you think 🌿

Try this simple morning reset:
👃 Encourage nasal breathing
💧 Offer water before anything else
👅 Quick tongue awareness (where is it resting?)
🍎 Eat foods that require chewing

Small habits → big impact over time

Consistency always beats perfection.

Not all oral development looks the same… but there are some key things we look for👇

✔️ Lips gently closed at rest
✔️ Tongue resting on the roof of the mouth
✔️ Breathing through the nose
✔️ Balanced chewing and swallowing patterns with lips closed

When these pieces are in place, they support healthy growth/stability of the jaw, sleep, postural alignment and overall development.

If you are seeing crowded teeth, narrow jaws and something feels “off,” trust your instincts — early support can make a big difference.

💬 Have you ever wondered about your child’s oral development?
