We hope you can join us today for Jane’s Walk around our neighborhood.

What is your relationship with the word "Inclusion", what does it mean to you? What have been your experiences in seeing exclusion? Have you ever had your rights not respected? Have you ever been discriminated against? What positive stories do you have in seeing inclusion wins where someone was vulnerable to experiencing exclusion? What is a small change you can make to support inclusion in your life and community?

These are just some of the questions and conversational topics we hope to touch upon during Jane's Walk Winnipeg

The 120 Maryland Walk - Let's Talk Inclusion will be held May 1st starting at 1pm so head on over to https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/120-maryland-walk-lets-talk-inclusion-tickets-1987705794539?aff=odcleoeventsincollection for more information and to reserve a spot!

The walk will start at 120 Maryland, which is a hub for organizations that support people labelled with an intellectual disability and their families. The group will be walking through the Wolseley area, which holds a few landmarks of the Community Living Movement. As the group walks the neighborhood, members of each organization will take turns sharing what inclusion means to them in the work that they do and offer opportunities for members of the walk to share their thoughts as well.

We will walk down Maryland to Wolseley Ave to Palmerston and Palmerston to Ruby. We will walk up Ruby to Westminster Ave and travel east back to 120 Maryland.

Meeting Place & Stops + Walk Leader Info
120 Maryland Street is the meeting space where the walk will begin and where we will end the walk as well. Participants are welcome to come between 1 and 2pm for our open house to learn more about the organizations in the building and ask questions.

Stops include: Robert L Steen Community Centre, Canora Street at Westminster, we will walk past the shops on Westminster and if participants want to stop for a refreshment and a rest at one of the local restaurants, a brief stop will be made.

So head on over to eventbrite now to reserve your spot on the walk!

Tomorrow is the day!

Join us on Thursday, April 30 from 1 to 3pm at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights for the official launch of MyRightsMatter.ca — a website for people with disabilities, created by people with disabilities.

This meaningful event celebrates the importance of knowing, understanding, and exercising human rights, while honouring the lived experiences and leadership of the self-advocates who helped bring this resource to life.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore rights in ways that are accessible and engaging, hear directly from those involved in building the site, and connect with community members and organizations working toward a more inclusive future.

By attending, you’ll be showing your support for accessibility, equity, and disability rights in our community. Be part of this important milestone — we’d love to see you there.
