Something that I’ve been mulling over recently is maybe “wellness” isn’t the thing to chase, and what if we switched this movement towards continuous optimisation to care instead.
Care for ourselves, sure… but also care for each other, our communities and the world around us.
It could be as simple as making someone a cup of tea, picking up litter, checking in with someone, putting a blanket over someone in savasana because you notice they are cold. Just small acts of attention.
Wellness has become something we do: optimise, regulate, heal, improve… it becomes yet another project of self-management complete with products and protocols and certifications and elaborate language…. Care asks less what should I do? And more: what is needed? Care is inherently more relational.
Anyway just some musings would love to hear yours 💙
