The EAO is a non-profit organisation founded in Munich in 1991 following on the recommendations made by an international group of clinicians and research workers. It was formed as an international, interdisciplinary and independent science based forum for all professionals interested in the art and science of osseointegration. The EAO has, as of today, more than 1800 active members in the world, f

📢 Today’s the day! Join us live tonight as Jochen Tunkel shares key takeaways on Autologous Bone Grafting: Shell or Block?

What will be covered:

• Surgical complexity: Full block grafting is easier and faster.
• Resorption rates: The shell technique has a much lower resorption rate.
• Biologic integration: Regeneration is faster in shells.
• Complications: The complication rate is slightly lower with the shells, and after a complication, you can usually insert the implant.
• Amount of augmented volume: A higher volume can be augmented with split blocks than with full blocks using the same size of harvesting.
• Vertical limitations: According to the literature, the vertical limit for full blocks is about 3–4 mm; is there a limit for the shell technique?
