Most people know that effective hand hygiene is important. Soap and water hand washing helps to prevents the onset of many unpleasant illnesses. But even those who really should know better often rush the process, or even skip it all together, according to an interesting recent report on the Time Magazine website.

Dr. Daniel Griffin, who is also president of Parasites Without Borders unsurprisingly, that he doesn’t like to fall ill. As we all know, it’s generally a very unpleasant business. Furthermore, he adds, it’s also a matter of “professional dignity”, likened to a gardener with dead plants. If he becomes ill, it’s likely that other doctors will do too.

The importance of soap and water hand washing
When it comes to hand washing, things get very focussed indeed. He settles the soap and water vs gels debate once and for all. Dr. Griffin has a stated “rule” when it comes to the question of “knowing when soap and water beat sanitizer”.
