Fancy a career on the front line? 🚑

If you've been searching for how to become a Paramedic, here's the short version. You'll need to register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and the most common way to get there is by completing an approved paramedic science degree. To get a place on one, universities usually ask for A-Levels or an equivalent Level 3 qualification, plus GCSEs in English and Maths.

No A-Levels? That doesn't have to hold you back. The Access to Higher Education Diploma (Paramedic Science) is designed for adults who want to get into university, and with learndirect you can study it online without putting the rest of your life on pause.

What if you could finish each working day knowing you had made a difference?

For Stacey, that was the kind of purpose she wanted from her career. She had always loved animals, but it wasn’t a path she pursued when she left school.

Years later, while balancing two part-time jobs and renovating a house, she decided to begin the Level 2 Diploma for Veterinary Nursing Assistant online.

Her placements helped her discover a passion for rescue work. After continuing to volunteer at TAG Pet Rescue, Stacey was offered a supervisor role at its sanctuary.

She now uses her knowledge and experience to help rescue, rehabilitate and rehome a range of animals.

Jobs with animals can take many forms, and animal care jobs can lead to opportunities you may not have previously considered.

Your midwifery journey could start sooner.

So, how long does it take to become a Midwife? To qualify as a Registered Midwife, you'll need to complete an approved midwifery degree, which usually takes three years if you study full-time. Before that, universities will want to see A-Levels or an equivalent Level 3 qualification, alongside GCSEs in English and Maths.

If you don't have A-Levels, you don't need to spend years going back to college. The Access to Higher Education Diploma (Midwifery) is built for adults who want a faster route into university, and with learndirect you can study it online and fit your learning around the rest of your life.
