REST

There is no health condition that i know of that is not improved with rest and attention and focus on the nervous system. I believe that 100%

Working with a naturopath you don’t get a script for some supplements or a diet to follow.. I mean you might get that too! 😜 but we ALWAYS talk about your sleep and your ability to rest too.

That might be hitting your bed 15 minutes earlier. Laying in 30 minutes longer!
Not training so hard or for so long perhaps
Not working after dinner ..
Taking a proper lunch break and eating it outside ..

For me today it was enjoying time with a chamomile tea alone. 😊
Saying no to driving the kids to cricket training as i was too tired. Even though i wanted to go walk the dog!
Laying in the garden in the late sun reading a few pages of my book instead of doing housework.
Laying on my bed for 15 minutes today too felt really good. Until my family found me! 😝
Listening to my body and not pushing through.

Whatever your summer holds for be sure to scatter some micro moments of rest in throughout your day. Your health will thank you for it!

❤️ WOMENS HEALTH ❤️

Such a fabulous day today of learning and connecting with my peers today.

Feel so fortune for ’s events as she is so great at connecting fabulous minds together and keeping up to date with research and developments in women’s health. Most importantly encouraging us to challenge what we think we know and the best way to help our clients.

Opening the presentations was Tanya talking PMDD, understanding the hormones and neurotransmitters at play, medications, genetic testing and naturopathic interventions available in our tool kit.

Next the super fascinating topic of chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis with the wonderful from .com.au. An integrative gynaecologist with a truly naturopathic and 360 approach Peta really was wonderfully inspiring to listen and learn from. 🙏

Lastly discussing the impact of the invisible environment and utilising foundations such as healthy light exposure in finding practical ways to encourage the body to heal.

Lovely to see & & and some old pals from my mentoring group last year too 😘

Plenty for me to think about and apply in clinic and to myself as well. ❤️

PROTEIN BERRIES & YUM

Boys baking some muffins today with sour cream and berries in. They were REALLY good. Let me know if you want the recipe.

Happy with the extra protein from the sour cream and a smidge of ground almonds too (and eggs of course)

Made the Leon Saturday pancakes the other day for them too with cows milk in and 3 eggs for the protein.

Most kids love berries i find and this is a great told of year to go for it. Mix them up, stick them next to yoghurts, breakie, pancakes whatever.
Full of fibre and polyphenols and goodness so no crazy sugar highs from them.

I will be happy with kids eating a couple of muffins with some milk Monday am for breakfast.

SIMPLICITY

Those days when you haven’t got a lunch plan and haven’t made it to the shops for a proper shop. It’s 4pm i haven’t had a lunch break and haven’t had sun!

Stopping now late in afternoon and cobbling together something balanced. Yes i could have pushed through to dinner without but my s*x hormones and thyroid and adrenals all need nourishment.

They don’t do well on skipped meals and relying on cortisol for energy.

This bowl:

Left over cooked rice from kids Sunday curry.

Cooked and cooled rice is high in resistant starch to help feed my healthy gut bugs and also provoke a lower insulin spike. Would have been ideal to of been wholegrain brown rice but hey ho! It doesn’t need to be perfect.

Mixed a dollop of hummus through (for fibre, flavour and more protein).
Smidge of avocado for more healthy fats 🥑
Grated carrot for fibre, crunch and fullness 🥕
Handful of shop bought rocket
Added some feta to make it really complete

Olives and cherry toms eaten while preparing!

Nothing fancy or difficult. Nourishing and delicious. Brain reads i am safe and cortisol stays low. Knock on effect is happier hormones and stable mood.

Dinner later after meeting when i will want to eat even though it’s late! Yoghurt and berries most likely - something light as i am really full!
