Fancy a trip to the theatre? Join us for an audio described performance of Mean Girls the Musical at The Hawth in Crawley on Saturday 3 October. We also hope to have a touch tour before the show too!

If you've seen the film, you'll know the story. Now catch it live as this iconic show goes on tour! Open to BCT clients aged 10-29 (although younger children are welcome if a parent feels it appopriate).

Tickets cost £15 and include a place for a personal assistant or parent if required. One of the remaining spaces is available for a wheelchair user.

Learn about your voting rights, try accessible voting devices and practise casting your vote in our mock polling station at this free workshop for blind and partially sighted young people aged 14-29.

You'll explore the different ways you can vote, the reasonable adjustments you can ask for and the accessible equipment that may be available to help you vote independently, including the McGonagle Reader, an audiotactile voting device.

You don't need to have voted before or know anything about elections to take part. Parents and carers are welcome too.

It’s also an opportunity to continue our recent conversations about seafront accessibility and share your experiences and ideas.

Fancy something a little different in the great outdoors? Wild Vision Forest School, run by Wilder Life Wellbeing CIC, offers free monthly sessions for children and young people with a visual impairment and their families at Wartling Woods (near Herstmonceux in East Sussex).

Sessions are sensory and nature-based, giving children the chance to build confidence, friendships and independence through activities like campfire cooking, shelter building, tool work, foraging and sensory games, all with a high adult-to-child ratio for extra support.

Remaining sessions this year run on:

Saturday 3 October
Saturday 7 November
Saturday 5 December

Sessions are free and run from 9.30am to 12pm.

From this month, we're bringing our Craft Club sessions together into one, open to all BCT clients, whatever their age. It means more of you can craft together, share ideas and enjoy the session as one big group.

Our next session is Play with Clay on Saturday 12 September, 12-2pm, where you'll get hands-on with moulding, pinching, rolling, coiling, printing, sculpting and, always a favourite, throwing on the potter's wheel. Whether you're a crafting newbie or an old hand, there's something for everyone.

Come along, get creative and enjoy some good company.

It costs £5, which includes all materials, plus drinks and biscuits.

Parents and carers are welcome to join us, or you can have time to yourself in our reception area, or simply drop off and pick up at the end.

Sign up for the VICTA UK Sport Leadership Camp 2026 and, over the course of a 4-night residential at the Royal National College for the Blind, you will take part in a blend of theory and practical experiences that will support your development of the key components of leadership. You will plan, lead and review sports activities and create an action plan for developing your future leadership skills.

Finally, to complete the qualification, you will be required to demonstrate an hour of leadership in your community.

The Level 1 Qualification in Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful learners to assist in leading purposeful and enjoyable sport/physical activity, under direct supervision. The awarding body is the Leadership Skills Foundation. There are no pre-requisites to taking part in the qualification.

Ever wondered who's behind the scenes at Blatchington Court Trust? Our newly refreshed website now has a dedicated page introducing you to the staff and trustees who make BCT's work possible.

From our Chief Executive to the team delivering family support, education advocacy, digital services and youth engagement day to day, you'll find a bit about each staff member's role, background and what brings them to BCT, along with a few personal touches, from Dolly Parton fandom to a learner of Japanese.

You can also meet our board of trustees, a team bringing together governance, finance, education, HR and accessibility expertise, alongside some deeply personal connections to BCT. Several trustees, including our Chair Andy, have their own lived experience of vision impairment or are parents of vision impaired children, bringing valuable first-hand insight to the charity's direction.
