The quality of our sleep really matters😴💤🥱. explains one of the reasons why deep sleep is so important for ‘overnight housekeeping’ of our brains.

In the state of deep sleep, our glymphatic system gets to work, flushing toxins out of our brains and preventing a potentially harmful buildup over time.

As a life-long sleep-challenged person, I no longer leave it to chance. I wind down before bed, have a sleepy tea, magnesium and have recently added Herbtender’s Night Drops for herbal support. Then it’s on with the eye mask, in with an ear plug and I’m able to drift off. It still takes me a while to drift off but once I’m asleep I manage to stay asleep. Mostly 🫣

Just a note to say that parents of young children are simply not able to switch off like this, for obvious reasons. Prioritise sleep where you can, and the time will come when you have your nights back for sleep 🥰🙏

In May, Schia was invited to co-create a meal with India Masterchef winner Abhilasha Chandak. The meal included adaptogens as food ingredients and each course was paired with an adaptogenic herbal tea.

Hosted by Gastronomus on behalf of the Crown Estate, the evening brought together conversation, tradition and a really showcased how powerful food is for our wellbeing.

Schia explored how food can support resilience in a demanding world. If you’d like to read more, she’s also written a blog. I’ll pop the link in stories or head to our Website to read it.

Thanks to:

for the wonderful talk
for hosting such a nourishing eventchandak for the mind blowing meal

Nettle seeds are ‘nature’s Red Bull’ - stimulating and energising and oh, so abundant in the UK. Our very own adaptogen, helping to replenish energy stores and promote vitality.

I’m seeing gorgeous seeds developing already because of the hot weather we’ve been having. Wait until the female seeds are lovely and plump before harvesting. You can then add a small sprinkle to your breakfast or lunch, but not too many because 🚀🚀🚀🚀.

Happy harvesting!

Wake up to organic 🌿🌅🙌

This May, celebrates its 80th birthday, and we’re joining their campaign and talking about breakfast. This was mine today 😋.

29 May is World Digestive Health Day, and as someone working hard to heal my gut after a childhood of over-prescribed antibiotics, this feels close to my heart.

Once you wake up to the reality that everyday foods – from oats and fruit to tea – can be coated in pesticides and herbicides like glyphosate unless you choose organic, it starts to make sense why so many people struggle with gut issues and autoimmune conditions.

Choosing organic is a powerful way to support foundational wellness – nourishing the body with cleaner, nutrient-rich foods while reducing the toxic load we place on our systems every day.

On my breakfast table this morning:
🍓 The most beautiful seasonal fruit from – I’ve been receiving their organic boxes for almost 15 years and I love the seasonal bounty every week
🥣 organic yoghurt
🌻Herbtender Good Morning Organic Herbal Tea – with reishi mushroom and ginseng
⚡ Herbtender Energy Drops – organic herbal energy🚀 Herbtender Rise & Shine – natural energy supplement

Happy Birthday Soil Association, we’re proud to display your badge!

Sharing because this tickled me - my little act of kindness that I decided to film on Sunday morning has been shared in The Mirror and Devon Live.

Hopefully the post did actually inspire a few little water bowls after all. Off to plan my new career as an ‘on-the-spot reporter!’

Heatwave but make it cozy 🔥❄️. I’m a creature of habit and I still want my bead time herbal tea, even though my bedroom is as hot as an oven.

You can still have all the benefits from the sleepy herbs and mushrooms as part of you bed time routine, just chill it down after you’ve brewed in hot water.

Hot water extracts the active compounds from the herbs and mushrooms in the tea. Let it brew for 3 or four minutes and then pour over ice to cool it down. I don’t love very cold drinks, so I haven’t added loads of ice, but by all means, feel free to go for a long, tall glass of ice and a little umbrella 🍹⛱️.

Stay hot but always be cozy!

For a little act of kindness during a heatwave, just dot some little bowls of water about so that the bees, insects and butterflies can have a drink 🦋🐝🐞🪲💦🙌.

This is your sign to get out there and make a critter hydration station!

It’s Exam Season 📚🙇‍♂️. We have A-levels and GCSE’s going on in our house, and it’s a marathon!! So many snacks, nutritious breakfasts, nourishing evening meals - these are the ways I support from the sidelines.

Am I adding rosemary to everything? Yes I am! Chopped into food, as a sprig in hot tea, as a bath soak - I swear by it. ‘Rosemary for rememberance’ as the old saying goes. Turns out they knew a thing or two back then and Rosemary is a powerful nootropic (brain food!).

Rosemary is easy to find it your spice cupboard, garden, supermarket or… in our capsules, drops and herbal teas.

Anyone else swear by Rosemary while revising? Share your top ways for our exam students below 👇.
