It was the weekend of the Darley Moor Sprint Duathlon which was also the European Qualifier for 2027 πŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸš΄πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒπŸ½

We had Mick Hutchins and Pat Hudson both β€˜toeing the line’. Mick who was in an earlier wave had arguably one of his best Sprint Duathlon performances mixing with some of the best athletes in his AG. It was great to see his efforts rewarded with a best ever time on that course of 56:12 which placed him 27th overall and 3rd in his AG πŸ”₯

As many will be aware Pat has been struggling most of the season with ongoing niggles and so was just looking to have a good hit out and get round unscathed and that’s exactly what he did. Pat crossed the line in a time of 1:00:21 with a smile on his face 😊 After a period of rest and a solid winter there is no doubt Pat will be back to his best πŸ’ͺ🏻

Steve Gannon took on the Anglesey cycling Sportive where he buddied up with a few other very strong cyclists. They worked together to have a very strong ride crossing the line in 4:59 πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

EP Race Report 16/08/26

Last weekend saw Phil Land take on his first 25m TT for a while at the West Cheshire TTCA 25 and β€˜boy’ was he glad he did. He nailed it in a time of 54:20 just 7 seconds shy of an all time 25m PB and placed 3rd overall πŸ”₯

It was also Ironman Leeds where we had two athletes taking it on. Unfortunately 48hours before the race it was yet another swim cancellation due to Algae 🫣 Vicky Willis had made a late entry due to the outlaw swim cancellation so to be hit with another was very hard to accept πŸ˜” Vic however is one β€˜tough cookie’ and got the job done smashing her sub 14 target with a superb 13:55 pacing the whole event perfectly πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Liam Salt is somewhat a veteran to Ironmans but with it being in his home town there was no doubt he would be on the start line. It wasn’t a great start for Liam where he had two punctures within the first couple of hours 😩 Frustrating as it was Liam took it on the chin and produced a fine performance with his best ever Ironman marathon in a time of 3:26 and finish time of 9:56 which gave him 17th in his AG πŸ’ͺ🏻

George Freeman has not long been with the group but what a journey so far. Just 16 weeks ago he was diagnosed with meningoencephalitis which is a debilitating illness but with very gradual return to training he was able to run the Blackpool 10k and not only get round but smashed our expectations with time of 37:53 πŸ€―πŸ‘πŸ»

James Griffiths has been on a volume build but we wanted to keep in touch with some 5k speed so James headed to the Podium 5k in Manchester and although we knew a PB wasn’t likely a 15:59 was very nice for this phase of training πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Luckily Blthfield reservoir didn’t suffer the same fate as Leeds where we had Scott Houston racing in the Sprint Aquathlon where he had a solid performance and strong run crossing the line in 36:15 πŸ‘πŸ»

Will slater was also at Blithfield but for the Olympic triathlon and it was another AG podium with a 2:14 placing him 8th overall and 2nd in his AG πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Jon Parton had an early start at the York Sprint Triathlon but he’s defo glad he made the effort where he had one of his best ever races producing a time of 1:06 finishing 2nd in his AG πŸ’ͺ🏻

A quick peep πŸ‘€ at what our very popular VO2max & Lactate assessment looks like πŸ€“

Today we had our coached athlete back in the lab where he gets access to exercise testing every 12 weeks as part of his β€˜Elite’ coaching subscription πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Always good to see some nice gains in his VO2max after some focus on the shorter stuff in prep for the next Friday πŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ’ͺ🏻

Andy was in great hands with our very experienced exercise physiologist

A fantastic few weeks of racing for the gang πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Will Slater continued his comeback with another superb performance at the Mallory Park Sprint Triathlon with a time of 1:04 which placed him 3rd in his AG πŸ”₯

Jon Parton was also at Mallory where he also had an impressive performance with a time of 1:12 showing excellent progress throughout the seasonπŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Charlotte M**f was at the York 10k and had a flyer smashing her PB in a time of 46:49 πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Stu Elsam headed to the coast for the Southport 10k and just narrowly missed out on his PB in a time of 51:28 πŸ‘πŸ»

Some amazing performances from the group over the last two weeks πŸ€©πŸ‘πŸ»

The European Multisport Championships in Banyoles πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ continued this weekend which saw Helen Bird and Trev White compete πŸ™ŒπŸ»

First up was Helen in the Aquathlon and her first time representing GB πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ (certainly not her last)
The swim has been Helen’s strength but also the one she puts most pressure on herself so it was therefore amazing to see her smash the swim which set her race up perfectly. On to the 5k run where she did superbly taking 2 places to finish 6th in her AG in a time of 42:03 πŸ”₯

The following day Trev then had arguably the most demanding race of the lot with the middle distance triathlon πŸ₯΅

Trev exited the water having had one of his strongest swims then on to the bike which is normally his strongest discipline but a lost bottle and a fall mid way through meant Trev struggled to find his rhythm. However what would have seen lots DNF Trev is made of tough stuff and got through the bike then on to the run where he not only held but overtook 4 athletes to finish 14th in his AG in a time of 5hrs 1min πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’ͺ🏻

Phil Land was back on the TT circuit at the Port Sunlight Wheelers 10m TT and fitness is definitely on the up as Phil was left feeling like he could have gone harder even after a strong time of 22:25 πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Well done each and everyone of you πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

EP Race Report 12/07/26

The European Multisport Championships in Banyoles πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ kicked off on the 11th July in blistering +30 degree heat πŸ₯΅ which saw Mick Hutchins and Pat Hudson compete over the Standard distance Duathlon πŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸš΄πŸΌπŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Both men attacked the race very differently due to circumstances. Mick started the first run controlled which put him in a strong position. On to the bike and although power was a touch lower than expected Mick still managed to hold his position in to the second run. The heat was then taking its toll on everyone but Mick rallied and finished strong in a time of 2hrs 7mins which placed him 7th in his AG, his highest position in a championship race πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Pat unfortunately has been suffering with back issues and even up to the race start was having treatment off his wife. Pat started the first run cautiously but got through it. On to the bike and he was able to build through and made up some places. On to the second run and with 5k to go nothing was stopping Pat from finishing. He ran hard all the way to the finish to cross the line in 2hrs 11mins which placed him 18th in his AG ✊🏼

Closer to home saw Jon Parton have a busy week where first up was the β€˜fast lap’ at Oulton Park which is basically a max effort lap of the race circuit πŸ˜… Jon put in a solid effort with a time of 7:11 which was 56th overall and 6th in his AG πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Jon was then back in action at the Sherwood Gravel epic over the 50mile distance. Jon has enjoyed switching up his training with the occasional gravel event. Jon had a super performance coming home 6th overall in a time of 3hrs 26mins πŸ’ͺ🏻

Sometimes racing is the only way to re-create the same sensations we get when on a start line and that’s exactly what Stu Elsam has been aiming to achieve by getting more exposure to 10k racing. Stu was at Tatton 10k which is a tougher course than people realise but Stu had another solid run out coming home in a time of 53:59 πŸ‘πŸ»

Will Slater was back in action this time at Eastbourne Tri. Will executed a well rounded performance across the 3 disciplines to come home 3rd in AG in 2:16 which also secured his spot at next years World Champs at Hamburg πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺπŸ‘πŸ»

EP Race Report 28/6/26 πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Well done to this weeks racers πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Pat Hudson used the Crewe TT course to get a solid Duathlon simulation in and although it was very hot on Wednesday Pat got a solid session in with a time of 25 mins πŸ’ͺ🏻

Sticking with the TT’s, Phil Land was back in action, this time at the Warrington 4UP which was meant to be 25miles but got shortened to 16miles. Phil ended up doing the β€˜lions share’ of the work where they crossed the line in 39:27 πŸ‘ŒπŸ» Phil was then in the M&D League for the LCA 10miler and had a very strong ride coming home in 22:16 πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Mick Hutchins was also in TT action. On Tuesday he had a hit out at his clubs 10m TT with a solid 23:46. He then followed this up on Saturday also at the M&D race but came to the aid of another cyclist who had taken a tumble so Micks time was a little bit affected but still strong nonetheless with a 25:04 πŸ‘πŸ»

Steve Gannon took on the Tenby sportive which is part of the Tenby long course weekend. Steve had a couple of technical issues on route but still produced an excellent time of 6hrs 16mins which placed him 39th overall πŸ”₯

Hayley Green was also at Tenby but for pretty much the full event where on the Friday night she swam the Ironman distance in 1:33 πŸ‘πŸ»She then had the gruelling 112mile ride on the Saturday where she did fantastic and completed the distance in 7hrs 29 which placed her 9th in her AG πŸ’ͺ🏻 Rest wasn’t yet on the agenda as on the Sunday she took on the half marathon distance and ran superbly crossing the line in 1:36 which placed her 2nd in her AG πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Will Slater who has not long been with the group but well on his way to being a top triathlete. Unfortunately, Will recently suffered a bike accident and fractured his Collarbone so since joining we have been rehabbing and getting him back up to some fitness. Therefore, the Llandudno Duathlon was a tester to see where he is currently at which went extremely well with a solid all round performance and a time of 2:16 which placed him 11th overall and 3rd in his AG πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Well done to all of you πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»
