☀️ Summer Yoga Term Begins Tomorrow ☀️
I’ve just returned from a beautiful few days in Milano, a very active city break where we walked around 24,000 steps a day exploring the streets, soaking up the culture and enjoying everything this wonderful city had to offer.
But one thing I came home reflecting on was the Italian expression: Il dolce far niente ✨
The sweetness of doing nothing.
How often do we find stillness difficult?
That little voice that says… “I should be doing something…”
Because there is always something to do, isn’t there? Another task, another goal, another reason to keep moving.
And yet our nervous system needs moments of pause too.
Stillness isn’t about being unproductive, it’s an opportunity to down-regulate, reorient and reconnect. It gives our body the chance to move out of constant doing and into a place of rest, awareness and presence.
I often talk about the green light reflex in class, that part of us that is brilliant at moving forward, achieving and getting things done. These qualities serve us well, but when we are always in that forward gear, we can forget the importance of slowing down, softening and simply being.
This is why our yoga practice matters.
A place to breathe.
A place to listen.
A place to come home to ourselves.
The summer term begins tomorrow ☀️
And there are a few places still open for anyone feeling called to join us.
