πŸ’› Could It Be More Than Just β€œA Bad Day”? Recognising the Signs of Depression πŸ’›

Depression doesn’t always look like sadness.

Sometimes it looks like:
⚫ Feeling exhausted no matter how much you sleep
⚫ Losing interest in things you used to enjoy
⚫ Cancelling plans or avoiding people
⚫ Feeling numb, flat or disconnected
⚫ Irritability, frustration or feeling overwhelmed
⚫ Struggling to concentrate or make decisions
⚫ Changes in appetite or sleep patterns
⚫ Feeling guilty, hopeless or like a burden
⚫ Putting on a brave face while silently struggling

And sometimes… it simply looks like someone trying their best to get through the day.

Depression can affect anyone, at any age, and asking for help is never weakness. You do not have to wait until things feel unbearable to reach out.

Please remember:
🌱 It’s okay to not be okay
🌱 Healing isn’t linear
🌱 Talking really can help
🌱 You are not alone

If you’re struggling, please speak to someone you trust, your GP, or reach out for support. And if someone you care about seems β€œnot themselves” β€” check in. A simple β€œHow are you really?” can mean more than you realise.

Be kind to yourself and others β€” you never know what someone may be carrying silently. πŸ’š

At Signpost Wellbeing, kindness, respect and compassion sit at the heart of everything we do ❀️

Our volunteers and trustees give their time freely to support others within our community. They show up with kindness, patience and care β€” often going above and beyond to help people through difficult times.

However, we want to be clear: abuse, intimidation, aggression, bullying, harassment or disrespect towards our volunteers, trustees or service users will not be accepted in any form and will not be tolerated.

We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for everyone. Whilst we understand that people may be facing difficult circumstances or emotions, this does not excuse unacceptable behaviour towards those trying to help.

Please remember β€” our team are human too πŸ’š

Let us continue building a community based on kindness, understanding and mutual respect.

Bullying doesn’t just happen in school playgrounds. It can happen in workplaces, friendships, community groups, online spaces and even when we least expect it.

Being spoken about, excluded, criticised unfairly, intimidated or made to feel β€œless than” can have a huge impact on our mental health. It can leave us feeling anxious, overwhelmed, trapped, exhausted or questioning ourselves.

If you are struggling with difficult behaviour from someone, please remember:

πŸ’š Your feelings are valid
πŸ’š You do not have to tolerate being treated badly
πŸ’š Setting boundaries is healthy, not rude
πŸ’š Speaking to someone you trust can help you see things more clearly
πŸ’š Looking after your mental health is not selfish – it is essential

Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is take a step back, have a cuppa, talk things through, and remind ourselves that one difficult person or situation does not define our worth.

Please be kind to yourself. Protect your peace, lean on those who support you, and remember – you are stronger than you think.
