This page is run by Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust's public health nurses (health visitors and school nurses) based in Derby, in partnership with the Public Health team from Derby City Council. Public health nurses are all registered nurses and/or midwives who have completed specialist training in public health for children, young people and families. The team also consists of assistant practitioners (community staff nurses, nursery nurses and children’s practitioners) providing specialist knowledge about managing behaviour, children’s development, emotional well being, general support for children/families, alongside the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme 0-19yrs. The Healthy Child Programme is a series of reviews, screening tests, vaccinations and information to support parents by equipping them with the knowledge and skills in order to give their child the best chance of staying healthy and well.

School Nursing Text Messaging Service.

Confidential health advice and support by text.
We’d like to remind you that you can reach the school nursing service by text for confidential health and wellbeing advice and support.
Young people can text: 07507327104
Parents and carers can text: 07507327754
ChatHealth is available to parents/carers of 0–19-year-olds and young people 11-19 during 9-4.30, Monday to Friday.
Anyone contacting the service will receive confidential advice and support directly from a qualified health professional from Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
How does it work?
• When your message is successfully delivered into the ChatHealth service, you’ll receive an automatic reply confirming that your message has been delivered (when starting a conversation or if the service is closed).
• A trained healthcare professional will respond within 24 hours but usually must faster than that.
• If you need urgent help before you receive a response, contact your GP, nearest walk-in centre or dial 111.
