Policies matter. But they should never override the law - or a child’s individual needs!
We’re seeing more and more situations where policy is being used as the final word, especially during this period of uncertainty around SEND reforms.
But the law hasn’t changed.
Children’s rights haven’t changed.
And when we rely solely on policy without questioning it, we risk missing what’s right in front of us.
This isn’t about pointing fingers.
It’s about encouraging reflection - because that’s where better practice starts.
