πŸŽ‰ STAFF SPOTLIGHT πŸŽ‰

Shining a light on the people making a positive impact every day.

Angie

Support Worker | Thorne Supported Living

Angie recently went above and beyond while supporting an individual through a challenging medical appointment. Showing patience, empathy and understanding throughout, she took the time to explain the procedure, offer reassurance and ensure the individual could make their own informed decision.

Angie also worked closely with healthcare professionals, advocating for the individual's needs and ensuring their voice remained at the centre of every discussion. Thanks to her person-centred approach and dedication, the individual was able to avoid a general anaesthetic and the associated risks.

Angie's commitment to delivering outstanding support and empowering the people we support to make their own choices makes her a valued member of the Thorne Supported Living team.

Thank you, Angie, for your compassion, advocacy and dedication. πŸ‘

In the middle of Shopping Centre, a moment of calm can make all the difference.

This photo captures it beautifully: a young boy kneeling in front of a softly lit sensory panel, colours shifting in gentle greens and purples. His body relaxes; his focus returns. Beside him, his grandparent leans in with quiet reassurance, close enough to anchor him, far enough to let him explore safely.

For neurodivergent children, a busy shopping centre can feel like a sensory storm. Clashing music, flickering lights, strong scents and unpredictable crowds can turn a simple trip into a tidal wave of overwhelm. And for carers, those moments can be exhausting, isolating and sometimes heartbreaking.

The Autism Plus Nook Stop and AmbiSpace Sensory Nook pods offer a different path. These enclosed, dimly lit, acoustically softened spaces give children a chance to regulate without leaving the centre, no booking, no judgement, just a safe place to breathe.

For carers, they provide dignity and relief. A private space to support their child without feeling watched or rushed. A chance to turn crisis into calm.

As Doncaster continues to grow, Nook Stop shows how small, thoughtful interventions can transform public spaces, not through grand design, but through compassion for the individuals who move through them. πŸ’œ
