Preparing for a blood test or vaccination? Nurse Claire Morris shares a few simple tips to help your appointment go smoothly.

Before you come in, try to drink plenty of water the day before and again on the morning of your appointment. Staying well hydrated can make it easier for our clinical team to take your blood and can help you feel more comfortable.

It’s also a good idea to wear a top with sleeves that roll up easily, so we can access your arm without any fuss.

And most importantly, if you’re nervous, please let us know. Whether you feel anxious about needles, blood tests or vaccinations, our team is here to reassure you, take things at your pace and make the experience as calm as possible.

Hot weather can feel lovely — but during a heatwave, it’s important to look after yourself and those around you. ☀️

Try to drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Keep cool where possible, stay in the shade during the hottest part of the day, and avoid strenuous activity when temperatures are at their highest.

Wearing light, loose clothing, using sunscreen, putting on a hat and keeping curtains closed in sun-facing rooms can all help you stay cooler and more comfortable.

It’s also a good idea to check in on older relatives, young children, people with long-term health conditions and anyone who may be more vulnerable in the heat.

If you start to feel dizzy, unusually tired, sick, confused, very hot or generally unwell, don’t ignore it — move somewhere cool, drink water and seek medical advice if symptoms continue.

Stay safe, stay hydrated and take care in the heat. If you’re feeling unwell or worried about your health, speak to a healthcare professional.

Planning a trip abroad? ✈️🌍 Don’t let travel vaccines become a last-minute panic.
Whether you’re heading off on a tropical holiday, backpacking adventure, business trip or family getaway, some destinations may expose you to illnesses that aren’t commonly found in the UK.

At Jenhams Clinic, we offer personalised travel vaccine advice based on your destination, itinerary and health needs — including vaccines such as Typhoid, Hepatitis A & B, Rabies, Cholera, Meningitis ACWY, Japanese Encephalitis, Tick-Borne Encephalitis and more.
We’re also a certified Yellow Fever centre and can provide official certificates where required for travel.

Some vaccines need more than one dose or time to become effective, so it’s always best to plan ahead.

💡 Did you know?

Feeling tired all the time isn’t always just “a busy life” or poor sleep.

Persistent fatigue can sometimes be linked to underlying issues like low iron levels, vitamin deficiencies, thyroid imbalances, or other health concerns.

✨ The good news? A simple blood test can help uncover what’s really going on.
If you’ve been feeling constantly drained, it might be time to stop guessing and start understanding your body.
