Bearsden Osteopaths

Bearsden Osteopaths Helping You to Move, Function & Thrive. Every treatment is tailored to the individual. They also give advise on exercise to rehabilitate and improve performance.

Our Osteopaths use a system of orthopaedic and movement tests to diagnose the problem and most importantly find the root of the pain; osteopathy doesn't just treat the symptoms, but the cause. Our Osteopaths use an array of techniques to help support the body's ability to heal and speed up recovery.

WELCOME TO THE TEAM!
We are delighted to have Laura join our team of incredible osteopaths at
Laura graduated as an osteopath in France 12 years ago where she worked for several years before moving to the UK.
Since relocating Laura has gained additional qualifications in medical acupuncture and animal osteopathy.
Whilst she treats patients of all ages she has a special interest in treating babies and children and supporting women through pregnancy and the postpartum period.
Laura has a very holistic approach to the management of her patients and tailors treatment for each individual patient. She incorporates a wide range of techniques including cranial and visceral osteopathy.
She’s a real asset to our team and we love her already!

Obviously do not do this if you have a child that has a physiological reason as to why they can’t breathe through their nose.
If your child has a patent nares encourage them to breathe through their nose when they sleep and not to mouth breathe.
This is a gentle reminder for my son (a habitual mouth breather) to breathe through his nose, I am not forcefully holding his mouth shut, I’m reminding his body to nose breathe.
It’s more important than you realise for a whole range of reasons, so follow along to learn more about breathing.

I saw a young athlete in clinic last week who I haven’t seen in nearly a year and I was surprised when I said how small her frame was, she’d don’t that thing that young people do and got taller, but she’s not filled out. I was more surprised when she told me she’d spoken to her doctor about RED-S (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sports) and they hadn’t heard of it.
It’s important that we raise awareness of RED-S, its essential for your future bone health that if your output is high due to sports then your intake is matching it and you aren’t under fuelling. It’s important for how you get on with your life out of sport, your ability to recover, injury prevention and ultimately long term performance.
Dealing with RED-S needs a multidisciplinary approach. Your period is a sign of health. If you’ve had your period and it’s stopped for longer than 6 months, or if you’ve not started your period by the time you are 15 call your GP. If you aren’t sure where to start speak to a dietitian or sports nutritionist to get some guidance - nutrition is everything.
Like I said to my patient - if you’re driving a Ferrari treat it like a Ferrari, don’t treat it like my old ford focus and expect it to perform like a Ferrari.

It’s true - last week was full of late nights and early mornings! It was also full of laughter, old friends, new friends, inspiration, great memories, sea swims and sunshine. Our hands are tired but our hearts are full - not as tired as those who are rowing, so nothing to complain about.
Such a privilege to be able to help some of the teams this year who are getting ready to set off 3000 miles in the 2026 .toughest.row from La Gomera to Antigua. Not only is it a honour to work with people whose bodies are in peak physical form but also to hear everyone’s stories and why they are here about to set off on such an incredible journey.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again - this isn’t a rowing challenge, it’s a challenge of the human spirit. Good luck to all the teams, we have YB downloaded and will be following your journey.
For those coming back to Scotland we’ll be here to pick up the pieces in a few months time. atlantic
