Thinning hair isn't just a men's issue although we offer treatment for both men and women
Hair loss in women is often noticed when diffuse thinning across the crown or a widening parting is happening, rather than a receding hairline or hair loss from the hair line or back or top of the head which tends to be the pattern for men . Either way, it's worth taking seriously and worth investigating properly.
Bloods and a full history come first. Iron, thyroid, hormones, medication and recent illness all cause shedding, and treating the scalp without checking those means treating the wrong thing and Kelly will check that those tests have either been undertaken or you also speak to your GP whilst treatment begins.
Where PRP is appropriate, here's what it actually is: platelet rich plasma. A small sample of your own blood is taken and spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and growth factors, which are then injected into the scalp to support follicles that are still active. Your own blood, nothing synthetic.
It's a course rather than a one-off, usually spaced over several months with maintenance after. And it works best on follicles that are thinning rather than long gone, which is why coming in early matters.
