September already. Nearly autumn 🍂
Picture of my small harvest of an impromptu forage this afternoon whilst walking the dogs. Reminded me it’s soon Harvest Moon and got me thinking about what my harvest was this year and what I’m grateful for 🙏🏻
My health. My mobility. A brilliant bunch of women who support me. Healthy, happy kids.
A hedgerow full of blackberries; traffic lights turning green just as I approach; no traffic, laughter and so much more.
The small, ordinary things that can so easily go unnoticed… until you stop and notice them.
Perhaps that’s what September is for me. The pause and rebalancing after summer, settling into the rhythm of a new term, and taking stock of what has grown. And what I have achieved over the last year. I think when you’re a parent you tend to treat September like the new year.
Not sure if I’ve mentioned it before, but I walked up Yr Wyddfa last weekend ⛰️
2️⃣ Two years ago, I genuinely thought I’d never walk up a proper hill or mountain again.
1️⃣ A year ago, I couldn’t walk much further than thirty steps.
↩️ Two weeks ago, I wasn’t entirely convinced that walking down a mountain was, in fact, a sensible idea.
🤷🏻♀️ But if you don’t try, you’ll never know.
Five days later, I’m still smiling about it… 😂 but I am so, so grateful.
Maybe that’s my harvest this year.
Not perfection, just progress.
A few unexpected challenges but managing to keep my head.
My body doing things I once thought it couldn’t.
And a whole lot of little things that are worth gathering and being thankful for.
Here’s to noticing the small harvests. 🤎
