Love your music? Protect the ears that let you enjoy it. 🎶👂 RNID’s Don’t Lose the Music campaign is a great reminder that hearing protection isn’t about turning the fun down. Aimed at Gen Z, this is worth sharing to your family and friends - https://rnid.org.uk/dont-lose-the-music/

At many clubs and live venues, sound levels can reach around 100dB or more - enough for hearing damage to start after relatively short exposure without protection. Earplugs, taking breaks from the loudest areas and stepping back from the speakers can all help.

So whether it’s gigs, festivals or a big night out, think of earplugs as part of the kit.

Enjoy the music now. Protect your hearing for later.

Earache? It could be more than “just one of those things.” 👂

A build-up of ear wax can cause earache or discomfort, as well as making your ears feel blocked, affecting your hearing, or causing ringing or buzzing.

If something doesn’t feel quite right, it’s worth having your ears checked rather than trying to tackle the problem yourself.

At Bailgate Hearing, our audiologists can examine your ears and, where wax is the culprit, safely remove troublesome build-up using professional ear wax removal techniques.

Blocked ears? Before you reach for a cotton bud… 👂

A recent Saga article looks at some of the best – and worst – ways to deal with blocked ears. One of the key reminders is that cotton buds and other DIY methods can actually push wax further into the ear and potentially cause damage. https://www.saga.co.uk/magazine/health-and-wellbeing/how-to-unblock-ears

If your ears feel blocked, your hearing seems muffled or you’re experiencing discomfort, it’s worth having them checked rather than trying to tackle the problem yourself. Ear wax is one of the most common causes of that blocked sensation.

At Bailgate Hearing, our experienced audiologists offer professional ear wax removal using microsuction, with no GP referral needed.

Expert advice on the best and worst ways to clear ears blocked by wax or fluid.

Would you know what to do if you suddenly lost your hearing? 👂❌

Here is an important reminder of something everyone should know:
👂 Sudden hearing loss should never be ignored or left for a few days to see if it improves.
👂Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss, or SSNHL, can happen without warning, often affecting just one ear. You may wake up with reduced hearing, notice a sudden 'pop', experience tinnitus, dizziness or a feeling of fullness in the ear.
👂It is considered a medical emergency and needs urgent assessment.

If you suddenly experience significant hearing loss in one or both ears, seek urgent medical attention. NICE guidance recommends immediate referral to an ENT service or emergency department for sudden hearing loss developing over three days or less within the previous 30 days, with assessment within 24 hours.

Please save and share the accompanying checklist. You may never need it but knowing what to do could help protect your hearing or someone else's.
