We were delighted to welcome Jacqui McShannon, Executive Director of People and DCS, John Morley, Director of Adult Social Care, and Sarah Bright, Director of Commissioning, to AoD to meet our Chair and Senior Management Team.

It was a positive and constructive discussion about the council's new Independent Living Strategy, strengthening partnership working with local Disabled People's Organisations, co-production, and improving outcomes for Disabled residents across Hammersmith & Fulham.

We look forward to working together to help make the strategy a success, ensuring nothing about Disabled people without Disabled people.

Today we visited Fair Shot for one of our monthly partnership meetings with Piper to review the progress of the supported employees we work alongside together.

These regular meetings are an important part of ensuring Disabled employees continue to receive the right support, develop confidence and independence in the workplace, and have opportunities to grow within their roles.

We are proud to work in partnership with Fair Shot, whose commitment to inclusive employment continues to create meaningful opportunities for Disabled people.

Together, we are helping people thrive in work and demonstrating the positive impact that the right support and inclusive employers can have. πŸ’œπŸ’›

We were delighted to welcome a delegation from the Cayman Islands Government Office UK to Action on Disability (AoD) this morning.

The delegation included the Hon. Rolston M. Anglin JP, Minister for Finance and Economic Development and Minister for Education and Training, together with senior government officials and school leaders, who visited AoD to learn more about our approach to independent living, inclusive employment, training, and community participation.

Throughout the morning, we shared how disabled people's lived experience shapes our work through co-production and leadership. Discussions covered independent living, choice and control, Direct Payments, personal assistants, supported internships, disability equality training, workforce development, and our community programmes, Our Place and Our Voice.

This was the fifth overseas government delegation to visit AoD in the past two years, following visits from Ukraine, South Korea, Japan, and other international partners. We are proud that AoD continues to attract international interest in disability rights, independent living, and inclusion.

Thank you to the Cayman Islands delegation for visiting AoD and for the valuable exchange of ideas and experiences.
