The highly experienced associate osteopath, Mike England, is performing a gentle osteopathic soft tissue technique (myofascial release) to help release tension through the upper back and shoulder blade area, using your breath to encourage the body to relax.
This can be especially helpful if you’re dealing with:
Neck/upper back tension (often desk or stress related)
Tightness around the shoulder blades
Stiffness through the mid-back and ribs
Restricted shoulder movement

Shoulder feeling tight? Body needs a reset?

Our client is enjoying a restorative hot stone massage with our highly experienced therapist, Paola Leone to ease tension in his left shoulder caused by lifting weights.

The warmth of the stones helps to release deep muscle tightness, improve circulation, reduce stiffness and support faster recovery, not just in the shoulder, but throughout the whole body.

Hot stone massage also helps calm the nervous system, reduce stress and leave you feeling deeply relaxed and rebalanced.

Because recovery is just as important as training.

More movement through the thoracic spine (mid-back) can make a bigger difference than most people realise - it’s the link between your neck, shoulders and lower back.
When the thoracic area gets stiff, your body often “borrows” movement from elsewhere (usually the neck or low back), which can feed into:
neck and shoulder tension
headaches linked to upper back/neck tightness
rib tightness and that restricted breathing feeling
poor posture at a desk (rounded upper back)
reduced rotation for sport (golf, tennis, running, gym training)
knows improving thoracic mobility can help you stand taller, rotate more freely, and move with less strain and for the right person, manipulation is one tool we may use to help restore that movement quickly and safely (always after an assessment).

Seven years ago, I bought my very first reformer. As an osteopath, I knew it would be the perfect rehabilitation tool for my patients. At the time, we had no extra space, so I set it up in the spare room.

I literally lived on that reformer. My hubby would call me for dinner countless times, and I’d completely ignore him because I was so immersed in learning and practising.

As I began to truly understand the power of reformer Pilates, I remember thinking, “This needs to be made available for more people.”

Over the next five years, I opened a small studio, and that journey gave me the confidence to create Aligned Wellness — a space built from passion, purpose, and a genuine desire to help people move and feel better.

Meet Our Ambassador Tony Browne

We’re proud to have Tony Browne as an ambassador for our Young Athlete Reformer Course at Aligned Wellness.

Tony brings extensive experience from the football world, both as a player and working alongside some of the best players and coaches globally. He is passionate about supporting the next generation of athletes.

He strongly believes prehab should be introduced at every level of sport, from football and gymnastics to dance and court sports, to help reduce the risk of common growth related injuries such as Osgood Schlatter, Sever’s disease and plantar fasciitis.

During growth spurts, young bodies are more vulnerable, which is why the right kind of training matters.

Reformer Pilates is uniquely effective because it develops smart load management, calf and quad flexibility, eccentric strength, hip and core control, foot mechanics and full kinetic chain coordination.

We are thrilled to launch a Kids Athletic Reformer Pilates programme for young athletes aged 7–12, starting 30th May at 15:00.

This progressive 6-week course is designed to support their development. Using our mat, reformer, and tower equipment, we'll focus on building core strength, coordination, mobility, balance, flexibility, injury prevention, and athletic performance all tailored specifically for athletes.
We're genuinely committed to delivering real results.

The best kind of catch-up: moving, breathing, giggling, and leaving feeling taller. A lovely group of ladies, strong, determined and willing to give something new a try! Varied abilities but made sure the session was fun and challenging. Finished with a bit of fun after the proper Pilates session.
