I know that if love could save them they’d all be here but we must uphold and keep shouting out the truth that we want to.

I don’t like the message: no one’s coming to save you. It is misleading. Because they would and some are already trying. And we must be encouraged to see that. To feel it. It might just save someone today by giving them back the hope they need to save themselves. 🙏🏻

Do you want to know how much courage it takes to stand on a bustling shopping street on a Saturday lunchtime giving out fliers encouraging people to vote against hatred in the upcoming Manchester mayoral election?

Genuinely, it takes nerve. 

You’d think that it would be easy but it’s not.

It’s fu***ng scary and to be honest,I nearly didn’t show up.

In the end, six slay fu***ng queens showed up to speak to the good people of Altrincham.

We gave out hundreds of fliers to an overwhelmingly enthusiastic crowd and only took a little bit of abuse for our efforts.

A couple of my colleagues seem to have this s**z down to an art form whereas I’m a bit more;

‘Excuse me, would you like a flier at all please sir? No err…okay, yeah errr..sorry have a nice day. Thanks’

One guy looked at the leaflet and shouted ‘BUT I AM RACIST’ and another guy who was over six foot tall tried to intimidate and belittle a woman who was about a foot smaller than him. A couple of people ripped up fliers and put them in the bin as an angry gesture but overall the people of Altrincham are genuinely lovely, polite and kind.

Our local Green councillor turned up and I gave a flier to our Labour MP who just happened to be walking past.

Don’t forget to vote. Manchester needs you to stand up against the far-right.
