We are delighted to celebrate our Trustee Director, Lorna Carter, who was recognised yesterday for her many years of outstanding service to people with disabilities across Nottinghamshire. The award was presented by the Mayor of Mansfield, Andy Abrahams. A very well deserved honour. Congratulations Lorna, you are an inspiration to us all!

Anne Callaghan (left) succeeds Lorna Carter (right), who has stepped down from the role after an exceptional 16 years of dedicated leadership and service. Over many years as both a volunteer and Trustee Director, Lorna has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to Disability Nottinghamshire, generously contributing her time, expertise, and energy across a wide range of responsibilities.
Widely respected throughout Mansfield and Nottinghamshire, Lorna has been a constant source of support for the organisation, balancing multiple roles while championing disability support, social care, and community engagement. Her extensive knowledge of the charity, combined with her practical, hands-on approach, has made her an invaluable part of the team.
Throughout her tenure, Lorna played a key role in guiding Disability Nottinghamshire through significant challenges, including funding pressures, office relocations, and the Covid-19 pandemic. She has also been instrumental in supporting the development of the organisation's strategic planning, helping to establish a clear vision and direction for the future. This work is now driving a programme of significant organisational change and development, ensuring the charity remains well positioned to meet the evolving needs of disabled people across Nottinghamshire.
While stepping down as Chair, Lorna will continue her valued involvement with the organisation as a Trustee Director, and we are delighted that her experience, dedication, and passion will continue to benefit Disability Nottinghamshire in the years ahead.
