A stroke is a medical emergency that happens when blood flow to part of the brain is cut off. It can cause life-changing disability—but quick action saves lives and reduces long-term effects.
📊 Key facts:
• Around 100,000 strokes happen in the UK each year
• Stroke is a leading cause of adult disability
• Every minute counts—the faster treatment is given, the better the outcome
⚠️ Know the FAST test:
F – Face: Has the face dropped on one side?
A – Arms: Can they raise both arms?
S – Speech: Is speech slurred or confused?
T – Time: If you see any of these signs, call 999 immediately
🚨 Other symptoms may include sudden dizziness, vision problems, severe headache, or loss of balance.
