Five Things You Might Like to Know About Learning Reiki ๐ฟ
4. THERE ISN'T JUST ONE STYLE OF REIKI
Many people are surprised to discover that there are different approaches to Reiki.
As we learn its history and follow its journey from Japan to the West, we can see how Reiki began to change and how it continues to evolve today.
Over time, different styles and approaches have developed. Reiki is also sometimes combined with other practices such as crystals, chakras or sound.
When something is copied, adapted and added to, I believe it is also important that the original is preserved โ otherwise, eventually, we may no longer know what the original was.
That is one of the things I value about Jikiden Reiki: it returns to the Japanese teachings and methods that have been passed down from the founders. It is taught as Reiki, without being mixed with other Reiki styles or healing modalities.
That doesn't mean Reiki cannot be used alongside other complementary approaches. It can โ but those practices remain distinct and are provided by people appropriately trained in them.
As part of learning Jikiden Reiki, students are asked to make a declaration to respect and preserve the integrity of Jikiden Reiki and the teachings being passed on to them.
So, with different approaches available, how do you choose?
I sometimes compare it to choosing coffee.
There isn't necessarily one that's โbestโ. Some people like an espresso, others a latte, cappuccino or flat white.
What matters is understanding what you're choosing and finding the approach that's right for you.
