🌡HEAT health warning for Worcestershire 🌡️

Temperatures are expected to reach around 34°C on Thursday — this level of heat can affect your health, so it’s important to take extra care.
💛 Looking after your health in the heat
💧 Stay hydrated

Drink water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty
Avoid too much alcohol, caffeine, or sugary drinks

🧊 Keep your body cool

Take cool showers or use a damp cloth on your neck/wrists
Wear light, loose, breathable clothing
Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm)

😴 Rest and listen to your body

Slow down and take breaks
Watch for signs of heat exhaustion (dizziness, headache, nausea)

🏠 Keep your home as cool as possible
🪟 Shut windows, curtains and blinds during the day
🌙 Open windows at night when it cools down
🔌 Turn off lights and appliances that generate heat

🤝 Look out for others
Please check in on:
👵 Older neighbours
👩‍🦽 People with health conditions
👶 Young children and carers

👉 If someone feels unwell in the heat, help them cool down and seek advice if needed.
Let’s prioritise our health and look out for each other during the hot weather ☀️💛

🎥Raising Awareness of Sensory Impairment

This short video shares real experiences of:
• Appointment letters that can be read independently
• Receiving important health information in ways that work
• Staff speaking directly to patients and facing them, so lip‑reading and clear communication are possible
• Greater understanding and awareness of sensory needs helping people feel supported rather than overlooked

👉 Watch the video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCOR390t_jU

This video was requested by NHS decision‑makers who want to:
- improve access to services
- hearing directly from people with lived experience
- raise awareness of everyday barriers
- understand how small changes can make healthcare more accessible

A huge thank you to our three participants for sharing their experiences so openly:
-John Irvine
-Jodie McLoughlin
-Lucy Rowberry.

If you have lived experience of being deaf, blind, partially sighted, or having other sensory needs and would like to share your experiences, we’d really like to hear from you, please click on the link below:

📢 Have You Used Social Prescribing Services? We'd Love to Hear From You! 💙

The National Academy for Social Prescribing (NASP) is working with the Patients Association to gather feedback from people who have received support from a Social Prescribing Link Worker.

🤝 A Social Prescribing Link Worker (sometimes called a Community Connector, Social Prescriber, or Community Navigator) helps people access non-medical support, community activities, and local services to improve their health and wellbeing.

📝 If you have ever received support from one of these services, please take a few minutes to complete the survey and share your experiences. Your feedback will help shape NASP's future strategy and ensure social prescribing services continue to meet the needs of patients and communities.
