Worcestershire County Council is refreshing the All-Age Carers Strategy for 2027-2032 and wants to hear from carers of all ages, including adult carers, parent carers, young carers and young adult carers.

Whether you feel well supported or think things could be improved, your feedback will help identify what is working well, what needs to change, and what support carers need in the years ahead.

AbilityNet and BT Group are offering free digital skills training for older people and disabled adults.

The free sessions can help you learn how to:

September is Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month.

Many women and people with gynaecological organs experience pain or discomfort at some point in their lives, but it's important to know what's normal for you and when symptoms may need checking by a healthcare professional.

The Eve Appeal's Painfully Aware campaign is helping people better understand pain symptoms, track changes and feel more confident speaking to their doctor.

The campaign includes:

✅ Information about pain that may be linked to gynaecological cancers
✅ Pain tracking tools and diary templates
✅ Information on the 0-10 pain scale
✅ Tips for discussing symptoms with a healthcare professional

📢 Waiting for a pre-school autism assessment? 📢

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust has published an update on the Umbrella Pre-school Autism Service, including answers to many of the questions families regularly ask.

The update covers topics such as:

✅ Why waiting times for community paediatric appointments and autism assessments are currently so long
✅ Whether referrals for pre-school autism assessments are still being accepted
✅ What happens if a child turns 5 while waiting for an assessment
✅ Support that is available without an autism diagnosis
✅ How to contact the Community Paediatric Team
✅ How appointments are prioritised and why it is important to let services know if you cannot attend

We know that many families are concerned about long waiting times, so this update provides helpful information and addresses some common myths and misunderstandings. It also signposts to other sources of support that may be available while families are waiting.

🎗 Could You Be a Community Cancer Champion?

Community Power is looking for people across Herefordshire and Worcestershire who are passionate about helping their communities stay healthy.

Community Cancer Champions help raise awareness of cancer symptoms, encourage people to attend screening appointments and share trusted health information with friends, family and local groups. You don't need any medical knowledge or previous experience, just a willingness to have conversations that could make a real difference.

Free training and ongoing support are provided, helping Champions build the confidence and knowledge to support others and promote earlier diagnosis.

🚶 Wellbeing Walk for Autistic Adults

Are you an autistic adult living in Herefordshire or Worcestershire?

Autism West Midlands is running a free wellbeing walk at Worcester Woods, providing an opportunity to meet other autistic adults, talk to Autism West Midlands staff and enjoy nature in a calm and supportive environment.

There is no pressure to socialise, and participants are welcome to take the walk at their own pace. The sessions are designed to be relaxed, inclusive and welcoming.
