So true fr. Have you got a problem? If you get a new tattoo it won’t necessarily solve your problem but you’ll have a new tattoo at least which is always good regardless of your problem. That’s girl maths by me, a girl mathematician (a man with a B in GCSE maths). Snoopy is so real for that. I got 99 problems but also a call new tattoo so really life isn’t all that bad.

I love tattooing silly self referential comics, especially when there’s a bit of sincerity to them also. I love comics. Making comics has been a part of my creative expression for as long I understood the concept of a series of images telling a linear story. When I was really young I used to do my own bootleg Captain Underpants comics. When I was a little bit older I had a super hero and sidekick duo called Super Carrot and Mega Nugget who would fight various food based villains (like the Burger Bandit and also Evil Banana) and I even created several long form Super Carrot and Mega Nugget comics as school assignments. One was about them visiting Mars and it had loads of Mars facts and one was about them going back in time to the sixties to meet my grandparents and find out what life was like in the sixties. In 2015 I made a comic called Depressing Simpsons Comics which ended up in the hands of a collector who then mentioned it to a reporter from Vice magazine and I ended up getting interviewed for an article about Simpsons zines. That same comic was later referenced in a YouTube video called “The bizarre modern reality of The Simpsons” that has like almost 3 million views. I recently started making comics again and i’m working on a collection of them to hopefully sell later this year. Made this tattoo in Brighton at Studio Baby last week.

SOME FRUITS AND VEGETABLES VOL.1

Recently if I’m doodling on a bit of paper with Teddy my favourite thing to draw is a fruit with a little face on it. A lemon or an apple or a banana or whatever and I sometimes colour it in with whatever crayons or felt tip pens he has taken out. I locked in last night and got these all drawn and formatted as a flash sheet in the space of like four hours, can’t remember the last time I did a whole flash sheet in one sitting. I only stopped because I wanted to go to sleep so i’m definitely gonna draw more fruits and vegetables. Lmk what fruits and vegetables you want to see next. Tomatoes are a vegetable, there I said it. It’s a semantic argument but like, all words are made up and tomatoes don’t belong in a family with fruits. They are friends with the vegetables and they are not culturally fruits. You wouldn’t just eat a tomato as a dessert. I don’t care if you say I’m wrong I think someone had to say it, like when people at school would tell you that your favourite colour couldn’t be black because “black is a shade and not a colour”, like get a grip dude there are bigger issues to deal with in the world. “Um, is tomato ketchup actually technically a smoothie? Hahaha” no dude get it together you know it’s not.

MIDWEEK MEGAMIX

I’m away on holiday this week back home in Brighton visiting my family and seeing some friends and also doing a guest spot at the end of the week. Here is a bunch of tattoos I did over the past few weeks and I probably thought “oh I won’t include that in a MEGAMIX I’ll give it its own post” and then I don’t get around to it so like there’s loads of bangers in this MEGAMIX.

1. In Mr Tickle (which is the first Mr Men story), Mr Tickle tickles a police man just to be a nuisance and that’s where this idea came from.

2. I know nothing about the game Grabbed by Ghoulies, if you do please let me know literally anything about it.

3. She just like me fr.

4. I wish I liked disco. I’ve tried it just doesn’t click for me. I sampled a bit of MacArthur Park Suite whilst tattooing and like, it was good and fun and it had a lot going on but i’d be lying if I said I was really into it.

5. It’s insane to me that the amount of time between Riot and After Laughter is almost the same amount of time as AL to now. Like that album felt like a career revival for Paramore but by now it’s like the middle point of their career. Idk I haven’t actually listened to a Paramore album since Brand New Eyes came out.

6. Moominmama is hitting a jig. She’s breaking it down. She is hitting the dance floor hard. Yes queen.

7. I don’t remember what this Pokémon is called.

8. I finally got to tattoo the Miffy cherries. Feels like I drew them so long ago, last summer even maybe. They bounced around a bit and now finally found a home.

9. I grew up on Yugioh and Pokémon and collected the cards for both but the actual game of Yugioh cards made sense to me in a way that Pokémon card didn’t. Pokémon cards felt convoluted and really hard to learn and it didn’t have any media really attached to playing the game whereas the Yugioh anime was basically an instruction manual for it. Like it kinda just felt like I was recreating what I’d seen in the show.

SOME GARFIELD FLASH 4 U

Never forget where you came from kid. I’m going back to my roots, six new Garfield designs for old times sake. I faintly censored the word on the second slide with Garfield reading a magazine but you know what it says. Been over a year since I last did some Garfield flash, I sure do enjoy drawing him. I’m not even that into any particular Garfield media, like the comics have some charm but nothing on Peanuts and the movies I think are actually not that good. I did a couple of Garfield tattoos early on in my career and everyone just assumed I must be a Garfield super fan. I think that perception has shifted a little more towards me being the Miffy guy now but it’s important to remember your roots.

We love a fun challenge. Kind of a blastover, kind of a rework, kind of a “Seb do what you want with it” type project. When I’m covering something, especially if it’s a tattoo that your friend did on you or you did on yourself, I like to leave a little something behind, something that reminds you that you used to be young and dumb. If you want me to cover up something on you tho and I start getting up on my leaving something behind bs you are totally welcome to say “hey seb shut up I want it all gone” and I will do that for you that’s fine.

Used to be back in the day I was an illustrator between like 2018 and 2022ish when tattooing took off. I got to work on some cool projects in that time, bunch of stuff for a record label that couldn’t really afford to pay me so they’d send me loads of tapes, a lot of cool illustrations for a socialist magazine in America. I don’t miss it all that much, what it did really teach me though is visual problem solving. Now when I gotta figure out how to approach a tattoo I think about how I would have approached an editorial illustration back in the day, we love a fun challenge. 9RS and a 3RL if anyone cares.

Don’t start me on Peep Show dude that’s easily the show I’ve watched the most times. More than The Simpsons, more than Gilmore Girls, like I’ve watched so much Peep Show in the last sixteen years or so and there’s only 54 episodes. Peep Show night, the two hour special that aired one time in like 2010 that had rare footage of the original test pilot? Yeah I watched that. I had a box set of series one to five and I watched an episode in bed every night before falling asleep for a few years. For some reason I downloaded all of series eight using a YouTube to MP4 converter and loaded them onto my iPod classic so I’ve seen all of those episodes a lot of times despite it being arguably one of the worst series. It took me until adulthood to realise that Mark is actually a really bad person and deserves everything he has coming to him.

My favourite episode is Nether Zone, I’m a sucker for bottle episodes. I think objectively the best series is 4 but I have a soft spot for series 7 because it was the first one I watched as it was airing. I think I’m definitely more of a Jeremy than a Mark, that seems fairly obvious I think. This is actually the second Peep Show tattoo I’ve done, the first being the poster for Chicken Run with the words underneath changed to Thus Spake Zarathustra. I like revisiting series 1 quite a lot because the show still feels like it’s figuring itself out, there’s this interesting recurring motif of Jez and Mark watching TV which the writers initially thought was going to be a bigger part of the show but got phased out by series two. In one episode Mark kicks a dog to death and it never comes up again.

Damn, he just like me fr. I love doing Evangelion tattoos. I love overlaying text and image. Make sure to check in on your friend who just decided to start rewatching Neon Genesis Evangelion. I don’t think i’m ready to go another round with this show yet, life is too good at the moment. I’m not in the right place for Bojack Horseman at the moment either I’m doing okay right now, I’m watching Girls (2012 - 2017). God’s in his heaven, all’s right with the world. I haven’t done a Ms Misato tattoo yet and she’s my favourite character. 7RL and a 9RS on this one, I love lineing with a kinda loose feel. I drew this before Ernie was born which I know was less than three months ago but in my head anything before he was born was like a year.

I had a bit of a creative burst and drew like eight new designs since Saturday night. How did I do it? By soliciting idea ms from you and also staying awake past my bed time. I think these are all pretty neat and I’m not just saying that because I want you to book one with me. Once we tattoo the Moomin Moster can and draw one with Garfield we’ll be pretty much all the way done with tattooing all my guys on monster cans. I love you.

Miffy Monster Energy, we did it boys, we finally tattooed the Miffy Monster can. This finally ticks off the last design from my Miffy flash sheet from last summer, I love when i get to do every design on a flash sheet. I need to draw a Garfield Monster can and maybe a Moomin Monster can also to cover all my bases. That elbow ditch is not for the faint of heart.

What flavour would Miffy monster energy taste like? I think probably Miffy is a cherry girlie, or maybe a strawberries and cream type flavour. Or maybe it’s something really rogue and tastes like hideously sweet sherbet or something. Idk I gave up drinking energy drinks at the end of 2024 and I feel good about it. My one vice now is Lucozade but it doesn’t have caffeine so idk I think that’s fine. I think corporate sponsors for art is a bit lame but if anyone has an in at get me in contact with them I will be a shill for Lucozade any time. If you’re coming in to get a tattoo and you want a cheap way to tip me, just bring me a bottle of Lucozade energy (original flavour).

Let me draw your dog. Let me draw his du***ss face. Let me draw your dog with big bugged out eyes and a shady expression like he’s done something he shouldn’t. Sorry Paddy I can’t remember what your dog is called and I know you told me. Started drawing the dog kinda normal and then just for fun I added some big bold eyes and then the entire direction of the design changed. 9RS on all the lines (and a 3RL for the little bit of shading).

Last slide is a bonus video of my dogs. I have two dogs and two cats. The dogs are named Maurice and Elma and the cats are called Melvin and Dorothy. The only pets I had growing up were goldfish. Technically I lived with two cats in 2018 for a few months when we were staying at Molly’s mums house. Maurice was my first ever pet at age 23, he’s almost eight now.
