"I thought Clinical Safety Officer training would be a tick-box exercise."

That's one of the most common things we hear before delegates attend our CSO Practitioner Programme.

And it's exactly why posts like Emma's resonate.

Many professionals come to Clinical Safety Officer training expecting a compliance requirement.

What they discover is a practical discipline focused on identifying hazards, managing clinical risk, understanding system failure, and protecting patient safety throughout the lifecycle of digital health technologies.

Clinical safety is now a critical capability for;
• Clinical Safety Officers (CSOs)• Digital Health Professionals• Product Managers• NHS Transformation Teams• HealthTech Companies• AI Developers in Healthcare• DTAC Leads• Digital Programme Managers

Our CSO Practitioner Programme goes beyond theory.

Delegates work through real-world healthcare technology scenarios, hazard identification, risk assessment, DCB0129, DCB0160, DTAC requirements and the practical responsibilities of a Clinical Safety Officer.

The result is often the same;
People leave with more confidence, a deeper understanding of patient safety, and a completely different perspective on how digital systems can impact clinical outcomes.

Thank you Emma for sharing such an honest reflection of your experience.

If you're working with digital health technologies, healthcare AI, medical devices, NHS systems or digital transformation programmes, Clinical Safety Officer training is becoming an increasingly valuable skillset.

🚨 DCB0129 & DCB0160 Are Changing. Are You Ready?

If you're a Clinical Safety Officer, digital health supplier, NHS organisation or HealthTech professional, this is one update you can't afford to ignore.

NHS England has opened its consultation on proposed changes to the DCB0129 and DCB0160 Clinical Risk Management Standards, the two mandated standards that underpin clinical safety across digital health.

Some of the proposed changes include;
✔ Clearer distinction between AI-enabled and traditional software
✔ New expectations for Ambient Voice Technology (AVT) and Clinical Decision Support
✔ Greater alignment with the DTAC v2 Clinical Safety Domain
✔ Updated evidence requirements for Clinical Safety Case Reports

These changes will directly impact manufacturers, suppliers, deploying organisations and Clinical Safety Officers across the NHS.

At CSO Training Academy, we're already incorporating the consultation into our Practitioner Training, ensuring our delegates are learning the latest interpretation, not yesterday's guidance.

We've also broken everything down in our latest article, including what the consultation means for practising CSOs and why it's important to have your say before the consultation closes.
