🌿 WHY DO WE ADD HERBS TO SOME COLONIC TREATMENTS?

Another treatment plan incorporating a herbal e***a — but why add herbs at all?

At Tamworth Colonic Clinic, we sometimes incorporate carefully selected herbal preparations alongside colonic hydrotherapy and abdominal colon massage as part of an individual treatment plan.

🌿 Fennel has traditionally been used to support digestive comfort and is commonly associated with easing feelings of bloating and digestive discomfort.

🌱 Peppermint is perhaps one of the best-known herbs associated with the digestive system. Peppermint preparations have been studied for their effects on intestinal smooth muscle and are widely used orally for digestive symptoms.

When incorporated into our treatment approach, the herbal preparation accompanies the gentle flow of filtered water and targeted abdominal massage, with the aim of creating a comfortable and relaxing treatment experience.

So, do the herbs make the colonic “work better”?

There are certainly plenty of theories and traditional uses, but we think it’s important to separate these from proven clinical evidence. Research specifically demonstrating additional health benefits from fennel or peppermint administered rectally during colonic hydrotherapy is currently limited.

What we can do is observe each client’s individual response and tailor their treatment accordingly.

This is a standalone, hands-on abdominal massage treatment focusing specifically on the pathway and surrounding area of the colon. It does not include colonic hydrotherapy and is ideal for clients looking for a gentle, non-invasive approach to supporting digestive comfort and overall gut wellness. Even those who may not be medically suitable for a colonic may be better suited.

Colon massage uses gentle, purposeful massage techniques across the abdomen, generally following the anatomical pathway of the large intestine.

Massage may help encourage natural bowel movement and abdominal relaxation, and some people find abdominal massage helpful for symptoms such as bloating, feelings of fullness and constipation. Individual responses vary, and massage is not a substitute for medical assessment or treatment.
