Over the moon to be featured on Love Wellington 🤗🙏

If you’re looking for a fun and inclusive way to keep both body and mind active, Love to Move sessions offer friendly seated movement sessions for adults, combining gentle exercise with music to support brain health, confidence and independence, in a safe environment that is close to town. 🙌

Developed by the British Gymnastics Foundation, the programme is funded through the Move to Thrive project. Sessions are particularly suitable for people living with dementia, Parkinson’s or cognitive impairments, offering a welcoming space to get moving, enjoy some music and connect with others. 💚

Classes take place every Friday from 10am–11am at Admaston House, on Wellington Road – just a stone’s throw from Wellington. This brilliant initiative is also FREE until November, so it's a great opportunity to try it out and meet new people.

🤝 How our local community turned a brick wall into something beautiful ❤️

When I first started training to deliver the Love to Move program, I hit a real brick wall. I sent out endless emails trying to find groups to practice with but was met with silence. It was disheartening, to say the least.

Then, out of nowhere, the Sikh Temple in Hadley reached out. They opened the doors of their Khushdil Day Centre to me, offering six weeks of their time with a room full of warm, enthusiastic women.

Shortly after, SASA invited me to run sessions at the Chattery Café.

By the time my final assessment rolled around, 18 incredible people showed up and filled the room with laughter, helping me pass with flying colours. That is what true community feels like.

This work is deeply personal to me. My father had Frontotemporal Dementia, my mother was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and my mother-in-law lives with Parkinson’s. While Love to Move is wonderful for just about anyone, its benefits for those navigating Dementia or Parkinson’s are truly profound.

To say a massive thank you to the local community that carried me across the finish line, I want to pay it forward. I am now offering FREE Love to Move sessions every Friday until November 2026.

🧠 What is Love to Move? Developed by the British Gymnastics Foundation, it is a fun, seated movement session set to great music. There’s real science behind the smiles. Specially designed bilateral and asymmetrical coordination exercises challenge both sides of the brain, helping to boost memory, improve balance, and lift your energy levels.

Everyone is welcome. The sessions are fully inclusive and adaptable to all abilities, and are held in an accessible venue. Come on your own or bring a friend or carer.

📅 When: Every Friday, 10:00 am – 11:00 am
📍 Where: Admaston House Community Centre, Wellington Rd, Admaston, Telford, TF5 0BN

Please feel free to share this post with anyone who might benefit or enjoy a good move and a laugh. I’d love to see you there! 👇
