FREC 3 Training – Another Great Week!

It's been a busy week at Optimal First Aid in Newton Abbot, with our latest group working through their Level 3 First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) training.

Plenty of practical training, including:

Patient assessment and observations

Airway management and oxygen therapy

Casualty handling and teamwork

Realistic emergency scenarios

Our approach is simple: less sitting around, more hands-on experience, helping learners develop the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to respond when it matters.

Ready to progress from FREC 3 to FREC 4?

Our next planned Qualsafe Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care course takes place in Newton Abbot from 30 November to 4 December 2026.

The course develops more advanced capability in:
Structured patient assessment
Clinical decision-making
ECG monitoring and medical gases
Airway and trauma management
Paediatric and complex medical emergencies

Training comprises five face-to-face days followed by three required workbooks.
Applicants need a valid recognised FREC 3 qualification or equivalent, together with evidence of 118 hours of relevant CPD or contextualised practice.

The complete course is £625, including the workbooks, assessment, registration and certification.

Two days of practical Outdoor First Aid training completed on Dartmoor.

Our latest group has just completed the 16-Hour Outdoor First Aid course, working through practical exercises and realistic scenarios designed for situations where professional help may be delayed.

The course develops the skills and confidence to manage:

✅ Incidents in remote environments

✅ Casualty assessment and monitoring

✅ Bleeding, fractures and medical emergencies

✅ Hypothermia and environmental exposure

✅ Difficult terrain and delayed emergency response
