Could you be the next para-cycling star? 🚴‍♀️

Our friends at British Cycling have launched their biggest ever recruitment drive for female para cyclists — and they want to hear from girls aged 14+ with a physical or visual impairment.

The Why Not You? initiative is all about giving more girls the chance to experience the joy, freedom and excitement of cycling in a fun, supportive environment.

📍 Taster Sessions
🗓️ 27th & 28th June
📌 Derby Arena Velodrome

What to expect:
✨ Try para-cycling on a real velodrome track
✨ Meet other girls and make new friends
✨ Chat with expert coaches and female Paralympic athletes
✨ Build confidence in a relaxed, welcoming space
✨ No experience needed

And if you love it, you’ll have the chance to join a 6-week Fast Track programme at Derby Arena or Lee Valley VeloPark to continue developing your skills and confidence 🚴

Stay safe in the sun this week ☀️

The UK has experienced some hotter than usual weather this week, so if you’re joining one of our Wheels for All sessions, please take extra care.

While we don’t usually cancel sessions for warm weather, our teams may adapt or shorten activities depending on local conditions, and to look after the wellbeing of participants, staff and volunteers, especially those who are older or have health conditions.

Top tips for cycling in the heat:

🚰 Bring plenty of water and take regular hydration breaks.
🧢 Wear a hat or helmet with good ventilation, and light, breathable clothing.
🕶 Protect your eyes with sunglasses and your skin with sunscreen (the NHS recommends at least a factor 30 with protections against both UVA and UVB).
🌳 Seek shade during breaks and avoid overexertion.
⏰ Listen to your body, if you feel dizzy, unwell, or overheated, stop cycling immediately and inform a volunteer or your Inclusive Cycling Co-Ordinator.

If you need any more information about the current warm weather and staying safe in the sun please visit gov.uk for updated advice: https://rpb.li/FpMrGW

Meet Austin! ✨

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate Austin, who is taking on an amazing 500km mountain biking challenge throughout May in support of Wheels for All 🚵

After discovering mountain biking nearly two years ago, Austin quickly fell in love with the sport — from hitting trails and mastering jumps to making lifelong friends along the way. Now, he wants to help others experience that same freedom and joy through cycling.

Austin is riding the equivalent distance from Chichester to the Scottish border to raise money for inclusive cycling opportunities for disabled people and those living with long-term health conditions across the UK 💙

A huge thank you to Austin for taking on this incredible challenge and supporting inclusive cycling 👏

What a fantastic day we had last week at our ‘Fix It Day’ in collaboration with Essex Pedal Power last weekend 🔧🚲

The event brought together participants, volunteers, team members and local partners for a brilliant day of cycling support and maintenance. It was fantastic to see so many people learning new skills, getting their cycles checked over and enjoying the opportunity to connect with others through cycling.

A huge thank you as well to the local fire brigade for joining us on the day and helping make the event such a success - as you can see our team got stuck right in! 🚒👏

Events like these are a great reminder of the power of communities coming together to help keep more people cycling confidently and safely. Thanks again if you cam a long and spoke to us abut the work our team is doing all over the East region!

Great to be in Birmingham yesterday attending the Strategic Partner Network event hosted by Sport for Confidence as part of the Include to Improve programme

The event brought together organisations and disabled people from across the sector to share ideas and work collaboratively to improve opportunities for disabled people to take part, volunteer and work in sport and physical activity.

At Wheels for All, we know the importance of partnership working in creating more inclusive communities, and it was fantastic to connect with others who are equally passionate about breaking down barriers to participation. Thanks so much for having us! 🚲❤️

Today we’re proud to celebrate one year of being an accredited Living Wage Employer 🎉💙

At Wheels for All, we believe everyone deserves fair pay for the incredible work they do helping make cycling accessible and inclusive for disabled people and local communities across the country 🚲

Becoming a Living Wage Employer was an important step in supporting our amazing team, and we’re proud to continue building a workplace where people feel valued, supported and empowered to make a difference every single day.

Here’s to another year of creating positive change — on and off the bike 💙
