🎤✨ £468 Raised for the Stroke Association!

Our Eurovision-themed Big Fat Quiz events were a fantastic success, bringing residents, staff and visitors together for plenty of laughs, friendly competition and community spirit.

Thanks to everyone involved, we raised an amazing £468.13 for the Stroke Association during Stroke Awareness Month 💙

A big thank you to everyone who helped make it happen — from organising and decorating to baking and clearing up. It really was a team effort, and a great time was had by all!

And of course, a special mention to those who embraced the Eurovision theme… the outfits didn’t disappoint! 💃🎶

From apprentices and learners to our Workplace Safari students, so many colleagues have embraced new opportunities during Learning at Work Week and we couldn’t be prouder.

This week we were especially excited to welcome our first ever Workplace Safari students. Over the past five days, students explored different teams across Halton Housing, met colleagues from across the organisation, and got a real feel for the wide range of careers in our sector.

Alongside this, we celebrated our amazing apprentices, colleagues working towards professional qualifications, and those taking part in specialist training programmes, all bringing fresh ideas, new skills and real passion to their roles.

A new community café has opened in Ditton ☕

The Catering Cup Café, run by Riverside College Widnes & Runcorn Foundation Studies students, is already making a difference – giving young people the chance to build skills, confidence and real work experience.

We’re proud to have supported the project through our Destination Kingsway and Stewards programme, helping provide the
equipment needed to get the café up and running.

The café will reopen in September and will be open:

📅 Tuesdays & Wednesdays (term time)

🌿 Spruce Up Your Streets – Kingsway Transformation 🌿

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been working in the backlands between Henderson Road, Brunner Road, Squires Avenue and Wavertree Avenue — and what a difference it’s made! 💪

What started as a one-day clean-up turned into a two-day effort to really transform the space, with volunteers and colleagues coming together to clear waste, improve pathways and plant wildflowers 🌼

From removing fly-tipping and overgrown areas to making paths safer and easier to use, this has been a fantastic team effort — and the results are already showing.

A huge thank you to everyone who got involved 👏

The area will continue to improve over the coming months as planting takes hold 🌿

Our long‑standing partnership with Riverside College gives students hands‑on opportunities across trades like Joinery and Plumbing, helping them build confidence, skills and a pathway into meaningful employment.

This year alone, students like Mason have already gained valuable on‑site experience with our brilliant MTs guiding them every step of the way. Their support is what brings learning to life. It’s all part of our commitment to developing future talent and investing in our community.

🌟 Learning at Work Week 2026 is underway, and we’re starting with something special.

We’re welcoming seven students from local schools for our first‑ever Workplace Safari, a week‑long experience giving young people a behind‑the‑scenes look at the many teams that help us support our customers and communities every day.

From Neighbourhoods and Customer Service to Digital & Data, Development, and more, the students will explore the huge variety of careers available in the housing sector and build confidence and skills along the way.

This initiative reflects our commitment to a strong learning culture and our ambition to inspire the next generation across Halton.
