SNAP SNAP is a bone health community for experts and everyone managing osteoporosis or osteopenia.

I’ve had some really good news about my health… and it got me thinking about WHY I started SNAP. 🦴

Last week I saw my gastroenterologist and went through what I jokingly call my gut-health MOT — blood tests, nutritional markers and a stool test.

The results are back and they’re incredibly reassuring. 🙌

Vitamin D, B12, folate, magnesium, zinc and iron — all normal.
Inflammatory markers — negative.
Blood count, kidney and liver function — normal.
Faecal calprotectin — 23, well within the normal range given by my specialist.

And my current blood tests show no evidence of coeliac disease.

That’s particularly interesting for me because I was previously diagnosed with coeliac disease following a biopsy, so I’m certainly not suggesting that one new result means my original diagnosis has simply disappeared.

But it reinforces something I’ve become hugely passionate about:

Know your body. Know your results. Track your progress.

For me, managing osteoporosis isn’t just about having a DEXA scan every few years.

It’s about understanding the bigger picture — my bone density, fracture risk, strength, height, nutrition, gut health, blood results and how all of those things change over time.

Because today’s result tells me where I am today.

My history tells me the journey.

And that thinking sits right at the heart of why I’m building SNAP Life.

My next step is working with the dietitian I’ve been referred to and continuing to understand my gut health.

But today I’m taking the win. 😂🙌

One result is a snapshot.
The trend tells the story. 💙🧡

I saw this quote on LinkedIn today and it stopped me scrolling.

“If you’re worried about the cost of going for it, you should see the price of staying exactly where you are.”

It had me reflecting.

I’m just over a month into focusing fully on SNAP Life and, no, everything hasn’t gone to plan. There have been delays, setbacks, technology battles 🤯😂 and plenty of learning.

But that’s the journey.

And actually, this quote goes far beyond building a business.

It could be living with osteoporosis and deciding to make changes.
Starting to exercise.
Learning about your health.
Building a community.
Changing direction in life.
Or simply having the courage to try something new.

We’re often in such a hurry to reach the finish line that we forget to appreciate what happens along the way.

So today I’m taking some of the pressure off.

Trust the process.
Learn from the setbacks.
Celebrate the progress.
Keep showing up.

SNAP will get where it’s meant to go — and so will I. 💙🧡

Sometimes the journey is where the good stuff happens.

Dragged myself to the gym tonight… and SO glad I did. 💪🦴

After a full day battling technology 🤯 I needed a reset before attacking more of it tonight!

30 mins treadmill — uphill walking, increasing the gradient every 5 minutes.

Then onto eGym to reset and log where I am today across my strength levels. I’m sharing a little snippet from each section — tonight was just one round.

The goal now? Track it. Build on it. Get stronger.

And regardless of what technology throws at me, I’m aiming to get to the gym every day — even if some days it’s simply about showing up and doing something.

Posting this tonight as my own evidence. 📊😂

And I feel AMAZING.

Now home, steak for tea 🥩😂… and back to the tech!

70 fragility fractures every minute.

According to the International Osteoporosis Foundation, up to 37 million fragility fractures happen worldwide each year in people aged 55+.

That’s why bone health matters before a fracture happens.

Strong bones are supported by:
• strength and resistance exercise
• good nutrition, protein, calcium and vitamin D
• muscle strength and balance
• understanding your personal risk
• taking action early

At SNAP Life, we want to help people move from “I wish I’d known” to “I know what I can do.”

Founder life today… I definitely needed my sense of humour. 😂💙🧡

Building a new business isn’t just about having the idea.

It’s systems. Technology. Emails. Platforms. Apps. Testing. Fixing. Learning things you never expected to learn… and occasionally wondering what on earth you’ve started. 😂

But then I come back to WHY I started SNAP Life.

My own experience with osteoporosis.
The questions I had.
The information I couldn’t easily find.
And the determination to make bone health easier for other people to understand.

So we keep going. 💙

Today: founder challenges and technology.

Tomorrow: gym kit on. 💪🦴

I’ll show you some of the things I actually do to support my own bones and build muscle — because after talking about Shake Your Bones and Build Muscle, it’s time to put it into practice.

1st September… and somehow I’m already ONE MONTH into my new life at SNAP Life. 💙🧡

Where did that go?! 😂

The app tweaks and improvements continue (we’re getting there! 👀📱), but I’ve also loved seeing the response to our latest Bone Truths.

🦴 Shake Your Bones — why impact matters.
💪 Build Muscle — because strong muscles and strong bones work together.

I’m going to take you into the gym with me this week and show you some of the things I actually do to support my own bone health — nothing fancy, just real life.

And next we’re talking about something REALLY important…

Previous fractures.

Did you know that having one fragility fracture increases the risk of having another?

That’s why a fracture shouldn’t simply be treated as an isolated injury.

It should be a prompt to ask: WHY did this happen — and should my bone health be assessed?

I’ll be digging into this in the next Bone Health Diagnostic because awareness can change what happens next.

One month in. Lots happening. Lots still to build.

And I’m absolutely loving bringing you along for the ride. 🦴❤️

Have you ever had a fracture — and did anyone talk to you about your bone health afterwards?

🦴 BONE TRUTH #15: YOUR BONES NEED A SHAKE-UP 💥

Walking is brilliant for your health — but when it comes to building and maintaining strong bones, your skeleton also needs challenge.

Impact exercise creates forces through the skeleton. That mechanical loading provides a stimulus that bone can respond and adapt to.

Think:

💥 Stomping
💥 Jumping
💥 Hopping
💥 Skipping
💥 Changing direction

Short, varied bursts of appropriate impact can provide a different bone-loading stimulus from everyday walking.

But here’s the important bit: more impact isn’t automatically better.

If you have osteoporosis, osteopenia, previous fractures, balance problems or other health concerns, jumping may not be appropriate for you. Your starting point should reflect your individual bone health, fracture risk and physical ability — and professional guidance may be needed.

The message isn’t simply “everyone should jump.”

It’s this:

Bones respond to load. Give them a reason to adapt. 🦴

LOAD IT.
MOVE IT.
SHAKE IT UP.
BUILD STRONGER. 💪

🦴 BONE TRUTH #14: I’ve been diagnosed with osteoporosis or osteopenia. Now what?

Being told you have osteoporosis or osteopenia can leave you with a lot of questions.

What does my DEXA scan actually mean?
How important is my T-score?
What is my fracture risk?
And perhaps the question we don’t ask enough…

WHY might I be losing bone?

Your bone density result is an important starting point — but it isn’t the whole picture.

Look at your DEXA results and changes over time. Understand your fracture risk and FRAX where appropriate. Consider previous fractures, falls and family history. And talk to your healthcare professional about whether there could be underlying factors contributing to bone loss — including nutrition and absorption, hormones, certain medications, medical conditions and lifestyle.

Then you can start building a bone health plan that’s right for you — from nutrition, strength and weight-bearing movement to balance, lifestyle, monitoring and medical treatment where appropriate.

💙 Understand first. Decide next.

A diagnosis isn’t the end of the conversation. It’s the beginning of understanding your bones.

SAVE this for your next appointment.
SHARE it with someone newly diagnosed.
