Today we proudly completed our One Big Walk for Mencap! πŸ’™

This year's theme was "Do You See Me?" – raising awareness and helping to ensure that people with a learning disability are seen, heard and valued.

Working together as a team, we completed a 1.5-mile lap of Himley Hall and Park, encouraging and supporting one another every step of the way. πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ

The fun didn't stop there! After lunch, we enjoyed a game of hide and seek to make sure everyone was "seen", before relaxing on our picnic blankets and taking some time to listen to the sounds around us. πŸŒ³β˜€οΈπŸ‘‚

A fantastic day of friendship, teamwork, wellbeing and raising awareness for such an important cause.

Today we've been making the most of the beautiful sunshine with a visit to The British Ironwork Centre. β˜€οΈ

It was another fantastic day exploring the amazing sculptures and discovering more about the stories behind them. Some of our favourites included The Hulk, the Manchester Bee, and Buzz Lightyear! πŸπŸ’šπŸš€

We enjoyed working together to spot different sculptures and learn more about them along the way. A brilliant day out filled with fresh air, friendship, and plenty of smiles. We can't wait to return and see what else we can discover! 😊

πŸ“πŸ‡ Healthy puddings were on the menu at Next Step this week! 🍍🍨

After celebrating lots of birthdays recently with plenty of delicious cake, we thought it was time to balance things out with a lighter, healthier treat.

Working together, we washed, peeled and chopped a variety of fresh fruits before carefully mixing everything together. Our sundae dishes were then layered with fruity jelly, fresh fruit and topped with a swirl of squirty cream.

Not only was it a tasty dessert, but it was also a great opportunity to practise our food preparation skills and teamwork. Most importantly, it was a lovely treat to sit and enjoy together with friends.

This afternoon we were delighted to welcome our friend Maggie from Wolf Yoga for Special Needs back to Next Step! πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈβœ¨

After enjoying our lunch together, it was time to stretch, breathe and relax. Maggie guided us through a variety of yoga poses and breathing exercises, helping us to unwind while learning some new moves along the way. Everyone worked really hard, gave their best effort and enjoyed the calming session.

A huge thank you to Maggie for spending the afternoon with us and helping us find our inner calm. We always look forward to your visits! πŸ’œ

What a healthy day we've had today! 🌟

While some of our members were busy working up an appetite at the swimming baths, the rest of the group were cooking up a delicious lunch in the kitchen. 🍽️πŸ₯”

On the menu for our Monday Lunches session were jacket potatoes with a variety of tasty fillings and a fresh side salad. The options included tuna mayonnaise, homemade coleslaw, cheese, beans, and ham – the possibilities were endless!

All of the food was sliced, chopped, prepared, and mixed by our own hands, helping us develop valuable cooking and food preparation skills. Our Monday sessions are packed with healthy activities, nutritious food, plenty of fun with friends, and opportunities to build independence and life skills.

A fantastic day all round! 😊

Last week we had a crafty time creating beautiful decorations for our sensory garden! 🌿🎨

Starting with a simple lump of clay, we used a variety of tools and techniques to design our own unique pieces of art to display outdoors. Everyone enjoyed getting creative and adding their own personal touch.

We also practised our knot-tying skills while making colourful decorations to brighten up the garden space. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop new skills, express our creativity, and work together to make our sensory garden even more welcoming and vibrant.

We can't wait to see our creations on display and watch our garden continue to grow! 🌸🌞

The rain may have stopped play this week, but it certainly didn't stop the fun! πŸŒ§οΈβž‘οΈπŸ…

We adapted our programme and enjoyed a fantastic indoor sports session packed full of friendly competition, laughter and new challenges. Everyone had the opportunity to try activities such as archery, while also brushing up on their bowling, basketball and throwing skills.

It was wonderful to see everyone encouraging each other, building confidence and having fun together. A brilliant session filled with teamwork, determination and plenty of smiles! 😊

Today we had a fantastic morning at Sedgwick College, Penn Hall School! It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and enjoy breakfast together.

The students' hospitality was outstanding, and it was fantastic to see how much they have developed their ordering, serving and money-handling skills. Everyone made us feel so welcome, and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time with you all.

Thank you so much for the invitation – we loved every minute of it and look forward to seeing you again soon! πŸ’™

One of the favourite activities on our evening programme is always a trip to the pub with friends! 🍽️😊

Recently, we enjoyed a lovely meal at The Nickelodeon, Greene King Pub & Carvery. With tasty food, refreshing drinks, and fantastic company, it was a wonderful evening spent catching up, sharing laughs, and making memories together.

Activities like these are a great opportunity to build friendships, develop confidence, and enjoy being part of the local community. We always look forward to our evenings out together! ❀️

⚽🌍 This week we've caught World Cup fever!

We made our own tournament sweepstake and practised lots of important skills along the way. We wrote everyone's names onto pieces of paper, folded them up and placed them into a bowl. In another bowl, we put all of the competing countries before taking turns to pick a name and match it with a team.

There was plenty of excitement as everyone discovered which country they had drawn! Now we can't wait to fill in our tournament tracker poster and follow the action as the competition unfolds.

Who will be crowned champion? πŸ†

Come on England! 🏴⚽
