🌩️🔥 BBQ Fun… Whatever the Weather! 🔥🌩️

We absolutely love a BBQ here at Next Step, but the great British weather decided to throw a thunderstorm our way! ⛈️😂

That wasn’t going to stop us from creating an amazing feast together! We all worked hard preparing our marinated spicy chicken thighs, burgers and sausages, along with some delicious homemade coleslaw and fresh homegrown tomatoes from our sensory garden. 🍅🥗

Unfortunately, the BBQ had to stay undercover and the oven came to the rescue! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳🔥 But that certainly didn’t stop us enjoying our delicious feast.

There’s nothing better than sitting down together and enjoying the food we’ve worked hard to prepare. 😋❤️

Fruit smoothies are always a hit here at Next Step and a fantastic way to get some of our 5 a day! 🌈🍎

Recently, we used some of the delicious fruit from our very own sensory garden, mixed with fruit we picked up from the shops, and blitzed it all together to make some tasty smoothies. 🥤😋

🌿 A Visit to The Wolseley Centre 🌿

Last week we enjoyed a lovely visit to The Wolseley Centre. Despite the recent wet weather, we donned our jackets, pulled on our sturdy shoes and headed out to enjoy some fresh air and explore! 🌦️🥾

It was wonderful spending time with our friends, exploring the riverside walks and beautiful wildflower meadows. Along the way, we spotted lots of different wildlife and plants and enjoyed taking in the peaceful surroundings. 🦋🌸🌳

🏖️🎉 The Final Week of Our Summer Programme! 🎉🏖️

Last week marked the final week of our fantastic Summer Programme, and we had planned to finish with a fabulous Beach Party! 🌴☀️

Unfortunately, the great British weather had other ideas! 🌧️😂 But that certainly didn’t stop us from partying hard indoors! We enjoyed lots of fun games, dancing and a brilliant disco with our friends. 💃🕺🎶

And to make the celebrations even sweeter, we were very lucky to have a delicious cake donated to help us celebrate the end of summer! 🎂😋

What a fantastic few weeks of fun, laughter, friendship and amazing memories we’ve had. ❤️

🐍 The Animal Man – Part 3! 🐾

To finish off our posts from our fantastic morning with Laura from The Animal Man, we have some more wonderful animal friends to introduce! ❤️

We met Kelloggs the corn snake 🐍 and a very cute honeybear that even smelt of chocolate! 🍫🐻 We also got to meet our final friend of the morning — a lovely lizard! 🦎

It was such a fantastic experience, and everyone was so brave getting up close and learning all about these amazing animals. 🥰

A huge thank you to Laura for bringing the animals along and making it such a fun and memorable morning. And a special thank you to the family for their very kind donation which allowed us to enjoy this fantastic session. ❤️

☀️ The Final Week of Our Summer Programme! 🌈

We’ve come to the end of the final week of our Summer Holiday Programme — and what a fantastic way to finish! 🎉

We started the week with an out-of-this-world visit to the National Space Centre in Leicester, where we learnt all about the solar system and even became astronauts! 🚀👩‍🚀

We then celebrated a birthday with lots of singing and dancing at the karaoke booths at Tenpin Walsall. 🎤🎂

Our summer holidays were in full swing with a fun-filled beach party and BBQ, complete with plenty of sunshine, food and laughter! 🏖️🍔☀️

To finish off an amazing week, we headed to the The Wolseley Centre to explore the riverside walks and beautiful wildflower meadows. 🌿🌼

Another fun-filled day this week took us to the National Space Centre in Leicester! 🚀✨

We had a fantastic time exploring the different exhibitions and learning more about space, the planets and our amazing solar system. 🌍🪐

We even got the chance to become astronauts ourselves! 👩‍🚀👨‍🚀 What an out-of-this-world day! 🌟

🎤🎂 Birthday Celebrations at Next Step! 🎉

This week we’ve been celebrating another very special birthday! 🥳 The birthday girl chose karaoke rooms for her celebration, which was perfect as she loves all things music, dancing and singing! 🎶💃🎤

Thanks to a generous donation from her family, everyone was able to get involved and enjoy a fantastic time celebrating together. ❤️

And what would a birthday be without cake?! 🎂 We definitely love a good birthday celebration — and plenty of cake — here at Next Step West Midlands! 😋🎉

The Animal Man – Part 2 🦉🦎

Here are some more photos from our fabulous morning with the The Animal Man! 🐾

We met a beautiful owl and learnt a fun fact about how they communicate — the female makes a “twit” sound when calling for a male, who answers with a “twoo”! 🦉

We also met a lovely bearded dragon and learnt that when they are happy and content, their beards can turn orange. 🧡

We were all incredibly brave and had the chance to hold the bearded dragon — lots of smiles and some very proud faces! 😊

🍓 Fruit Kebab Fun! 🍌

Last week we enjoyed a fun and tasty session designing and making our own fruit kebabs! 🍓🍇🍍

First, we practised our scissor skills by cutting and sticking a picture version of our kebab. ✂️ Once our fruit was chopped and prepared, we used our designs to help us create our real fruit kebabs. 🍓🍌

After lunch, we enjoyed our delicious creations for dessert — they certainly went down well! 😊

A fun session full of learning, independence and, of course, plenty of yummy fruit! ❤️
