It is with sadness that I have made the decision to stand down from my Trustee role and therefore not put myself forward for re-election at of the AGM 2026.

However, I am remaining as a Volunteer for the charity. You can’t get rid of me just yet!

My decision arises from many months of ongoing health issues which have resulted in my not being able to support the Chairperson and fellow Trustees and charity as I would have liked to have done.

I wish to thank the Board, staff, fellow volunteers and members for being very patient and understanding over many months where I have been intermittently giving support. I sincerely hope my involvement as a volunteer will increase as the charity looks forward to the future and what can be offered or sought after.

Sight Support is a charity I have always been proud to be associated with and long may that continue.

Could your business help us achieve something amazing this Christmas?

We've entered The Christmas Big Give, a match funding campaign with the potential to raise £10,000 for Sight Support Worthing. But we need your help to get there.

We're looking for local businesses to pledge £100 or more by 4 September. Pledges are payable in December and are then matched by Champion funders, meaning every pound goes much further.

Last year our team delivered:

💻335 technology and scam awareness sessions
😊491 counselling sessions
✅141 benefits advice sessions
👏3,352 people attended our events and activities
👩‍🦯‍➡️17 visual impairment awareness training sessions
🛻209 sighted guide lifts to medical appointments

And we expect those numbers to double this year. Your pledge helps us keep up with that growth and continue supporting people with sight loss right here in Worthing.

Every pledging business will be celebrated across our social media and website but, most importantly, you'll be giving people in our community real, practical support when they need it most.

When one of our members learns to use an accessible banking app, or receives a benefit they didn't know they were entitled to, or feels confident enough to manage their finances without relying on family or friends, that is what our current fundraising campaign is all about.

We've been supporting people with sight loss in Worthing since 1910. With your help, and match funding from the Aviva Foundation, we can keep doing it.

Our handsome, brand spanking new minibus has arrived! We took it on its maiden voyage to Old Barn Garden Centre, up the A24, to test the comfort and the air conditioning and indulge in that new car aroma. It did not disappoint!
