They arrived here as complete strangers. 🇮🇪✈️🇪🇸

Different lives, different stories, but all with the same hope, to finally have a life with less pain and more freedom. ✨

Over the days, they shared the nerves, the laughs, the meals, the little chats in the hotel and those moments when sometimes you just need someone who understands exactly what you’re going through.

And somewhere along the way, something lovely happened. ✨

They became friends.

It’s one of the things we love most about seeing our patients here in Spain. Watching people who had never met before support each other, check in on each other and celebrate the little milestones together.

They came here as strangers, but they left with friendships they probably never expected to make. ❤️‍🩹

And we think that’s pretty special. ✨

👋 Meet Rob!

We’re delighted to introduce you to Rob, who has joined the Surgery Now team as our Partnership Development Consultant. Originally from Cork, Rob now enjoys life in the Midlands and spends his time building relationships with GPs, physiotherapists, credit unions and other organisations across Ireland. 🇮🇪

Rob’s role is all about making connections and helping to spread awareness of the options available to people who may be facing long wait times for treatment. He is particularly passionate about the EU Cross Border Directive and helping people understand how it can provide another option for accessing eligible treatment in Spain. 🇪🇸

He also works closely with credit unions, helping members explore the funding options that may be available to them when considering surgery.

Rob is naturally calm, approachable and easy to talk to, and he enjoys meeting people and building genuine relationships.

We’re very happy to have Rob as part of the Surgery Now team and look forward to introducing him more to our patients and followers over the coming months. ✨

A photo from earlier this week, before surgery, when everyone was still waiting for their big day. ✨

Fast forward a few days and these patients have all now had their procedures and are beginning the next part of their journey….. recovery.

We know there’s a lot of emotion that comes with surgery. Nerves beforehand, the relief when it’s over, and then the patience that recovery asks of you. ❤️‍🩹

So from all of us at Surgery Now, we just wanted to send a little message to everyone pictured here, we’re thinking of you, wishing you well and hoping each day brings a little more comfort and progress. ✨

Take care of yourselves and remember, the hardest part is behind you now. 🇪🇸❤️‍🩹🇮🇪

✨ Thinking about bariatric surgery?

If you’ve been considering surgery but don’t know where to begin, you’re certainly not alone.

For people in Ireland 🇮🇪, there may be an option to have bariatric surgery in Spain 🇪🇸 through the EU Cross Border Directive, with HSE reimbursement available for eligible patients.

At Surgery Now, we’re here to help you understand the process, answer your questions and support you from that first enquiry onwards. 💬

You can even have a free video meet with your bariatric surgeon and nutritionist before you decide to travel, giving you the chance to talk through your options and ask any questions you may have.

✨ Sometimes, the first step is simply having a conversation.

The conversations that stay with us ❤️

Smiles, conversations and that mix of excitement and nerves as our patients prepare for the next step in their surgery journey. 🇪🇸

But behind every smile is a different story. ❤️

This week, we listened to patients talk about how long they’ve been waiting for surgery, and how some are still waiting for that phone call just to speak to someone about their treatment. ✨

We heard about how being in pain has affected their everyday lives , the things they’ve had to stop doing, the things they’ve had to put on hold, and the simple things they just want to be able to enjoy again.

And then there are the plans for after surgery… ✨
The holidays, walks, days out, hobbies, spending more time with family, and simply getting back to doing the things they love.

These conversations are a big part of what makes what we do so personal. Behind every patient is a real person with their own story, their own reasons for being here and their own hopes for what comes next.

Wishing all of our patients the very best for their surgery and recovery. ❤️‍🩹
