During our practice today, a solar eclipse is taking place.
For a moment, the moon moves between the earth and the sun. The light becomes hidden, but the sun itself has not disappeared. It is still there, exactly as it was before.
I think this is a beautiful reminder for our practice.
Sometimes our own light can feel hidden too. By thoughts, emotions, stress, fear, or simply by life being a little too much.
And often we immediately want to change that. We want to feel better, calmer, lighter.
But yoga teaches us that we don’t always have to fix what is passing through.
Just like the moon passes in front of the sun, our thoughts and feelings come and go.
The light underneath remains.
So perhaps today we can simply practise being with whatever is here.
Not pushing the darkness away.
Not trying to hold on to the light.
Just noticing.
Everything passes.
And the light is still there.
