💧 Dehydration is one of the biggest risk factors for getting kidney stones.

With temperatures soaring across Europe, remember to drink plenty of water! When you're dehydrated, your urine becomes more concentrated, making it easier for kidney stones to form.

Did you know that about 1 in 10 people will develop a kidney stone during their lifetime? Unfortunately, the number of kidney stone cases often increases during the warmer months.

This summer, drink around 2 to 3 litres of water each day to produce pale, clear-yellow urine. Better hydration is just a stone’s throw away.

Share Your Experience with Prostate Cancer – Join the Dutch BALANCE Study!

Have you been diagnosed with prostate cancer? We want to hear from you.

The Dutch BALANCE Study is inviting men of African, Caribbean, or mixed ethnic backgrounds who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer to share their experiences through a short survey.

By taking part, you'll help researchers better understand the challenges men face throughout their prostate cancer journey and identify ways to improve care for future patients.

We also encourage healthcare professionals, patient organisations, and community partners to share this survey within their networks so we can reach as many eligible participants as possible.

📢 The Dutch BALANCE project Questionnaire is now open!

We're inviting men of African, Caribbean, and mixed ethnic backgrounds who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer to share their experiences through the Dutch BALANCE study.

The insights gathered will help identify care needs, barriers to treatment, and opportunities to improve prostate cancer care for future generations.

We encourage healthcare professionals, patient organisations, and community partners to help spread the word.

❗ Many patients feel anxious about urodynamic testing because they don't fully understand what it involves or why it's performed.

Existing patient resources often fall short in accuracy, sensitivity, and relatability.

We and the EAU Section of Functional Urology have partnered to develop a comprehensive patient education programme on urodynamics, supported by leading international societies including:

🚽 International Continence Society (ICS),
🚽 International Neurourology Journal Society,
🚽 EUGA European Urogynaecological Association

This new e-course introduces the programme’s structure, educational approach, animations, live-action content, and plans for global accessibility through translations and international rollout.

This World Continence Week, hear from leading experts in urodynamic testing as they share valuable insights into a procedure that plays a vital role in understanding and managing continence conditions.

🚭 Where there's smoke... there may be bladder cancer.

This World No To***co Day, the EAU is turning up the heat on an often-overlooked fact: smoking is the leading risk factor for bladder cancer.

If you smoke, you are 2–4 times more likely to develop bladder cancer than someone who has never smoked. Harmful chemicals in to***co smoke enter the bloodstream and are eventually concentrated in the urine, where they can damage the lining of the bladder over time.

The good news? Quitting smoking reduces your risk and brings immediate benefits to your overall health.

This World No To***co Day, take a step towards protecting your bladder, your health, and your future.

Check out the EU BCLEAR project for more updates on how efforts to improve bladder cancer knowledge and address health literacy gaps are being implemented across Europe.

Got an odd pair this spring? 🧦 Get them checked!

This April, for testicular cancer awareness month, we encourage people to give themselves a self-check to make sure everything is normal.

⏲️ When to check?
The best time to examine your testicles is during or right after a warm shower or bath, as the warmth relaxes the sc***um which makes it easier to feel anything unusual.

🤏 How to check?
Look for swelling, lumps, or changes in the scrotal skin. Examine each testicle individually using both hands. Put your thumbs on top and fingers underneath, gently rolling the testicle between your fingers. Feel for any unusual lumps or bumps, changes in size, shape or consistency.

🧐 What to look out for:
A hard lump on the testicle, swelling or enlargement of the testicle, changes in the shape or consistency, dull ache or heaviness in the sc***um

🩺 When to see a doctor?
If you notice any of the above changes, contact your doctor promptly.
