Got an odd pair this spring? 🧦 Get them checked!

This April, for testicular cancer awareness month, we encourage people to give themselves a self-check to make sure everything is normal.

⏲️ When to check?
The best time to examine your testicles is during or right after a warm shower or bath, as the warmth relaxes the sc***um which makes it easier to feel anything unusual.

🤏 How to check?
Look for swelling, lumps, or changes in the scrotal skin. Examine each testicle individually using both hands. Put your thumbs on top and fingers underneath, gently rolling the testicle between your fingers. Feel for any unusual lumps or bumps, changes in size, shape or consistency.

🧐 What to look out for:
A hard lump on the testicle, swelling or enlargement of the testicle, changes in the shape or consistency, dull ache or heaviness in the sc***um

🩺 When to see a doctor?
If you notice any of the above changes, contact your doctor promptly.

💡 Introducing SHINE-URO: a new framework for shared decision-making in urology 🤝

Developed through a European consensus, SHINE-URO helps bring patients and healthcare professionals together to make better, more informed decisions, combining clinical expertise with individual values and preferences.

🔑 Built on 6 core principles, it supports more open, informed, and patient-centred care.

🌍 A step forward for urology and truly collaborative healthcare!

🎉 Happy New Year! 🎉

We're kicking off 2026 with a review of our latest EPAG (European Patient Advocacy Group) meeting in Lisbon! 🤝 The EPAG group of the EAU Patient Office work to ensure that patients’ voices are represented in healthcare decisions and in policy.

📆 With a full day of discussions, our last EPAG meeting of 2025 tackled issues ranging from prostate cancer awareness in Sierra Leone, to the rising economic impact of urinary incontinence in Europe.

👇 Read the full article below to see the full details, and what the Patient Office has in store for 2026.

As always, many thanks to our wonderful EPAG members for attending and contributing such value thoughts and dialogue that proudly amplify the patient voice 📢

EPAG’s Lisbon meeting set a bold 2025 agenda for patient advocacy, global health, cancer awareness, incontinence policy, and stronger patient voices in urological care.

S*X!

Now that we've caught your attention, don't miss checking out the recently recorded webinar 'The patient and partner perspectives on the impact of female cystectomy, pe**le cancer and prostate cancer on s*xual function'.

In this webinar, we learned about that for 🧔‍♂️ prostate & pe**le cancer...
👉 Up to 85% of prostate cancer patients suffer ED post-surgery
👉 Pe**le cancer may lead to the total or partial removal of the p***s 🍆

And for female patients who have undergone a cystectomy...
👉 70%+ experience loss of vaginal sensation
👉Many can no longer have intercourse—even with therapy

🗣️ Patients say:
“I wish someone had told me s*x might never feel the same again.”

Radical urological surgeries don’t just save lives—they change them forever.

🧬 Closing the gap in prostate cancer care 🧬

Black men face significantly higher risks of diagnosis and death from prostate cancer — and that needs to change.

At the EAU Patient Office, we're proud to lead the Diversity in Prostate Cancer (PCa) PROMS Study, collecting direct feedback from Black men to improve treatment and ensure equitable care. 🗣️💙

🌍 This is more than research — it's about listening, learning, and making care more inclusive.
