Colorectal Health: The Everyday Signals Your Body Is Asking You Not to Ignore

Many people wonder when it's time to have a colonoscopy.

Your GP or specialist may recommend one if you've noticed ongoing changes in your bowel habits, blood in your stool, persistent abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, or if you have a family history of bowel cancer or bowel disease.

A colonoscopy helps identify the cause of these symptoms and, in many cases, can detect and remove polyps before they may become a more serious problem.

If you're concerned about your bowel health, speak with your GP or contact Intus directly to self-refer for timely specialist assessment.

A gastroscopy may be recommended if you're experiencing ongoing heartburn, reflux, difficulty swallowing, upper abdominal pain, persistent nausea, or unexplained vomiting.

Rather than continuing to manage these symptoms on your own, it's important to understand what's causing them. A gastroscopy allows specialists to examine the oesophagus, stomach, and upper digestive tract to investigate conditions such as reflux disease, ulcers, inflammation, and coeliac disease.

If these symptoms have been affecting your daily life, speak with your GP or contact Intus to discuss whether a specialist assessment is right for you.
