My practice of non-attachment continues, but lately it has come along with a friend to learn about. A friend called Faith.
My health is one of my main focuses in life, and it has been one of my biggest teachers. I have learnt about fear, turmoil, pain, horror, patience, grief, sadness, and confusion all from a health condition and a giant operation. It is an ongoing thing I will have to deal with for the rest of my life, and lately I have just got tired of it all. Tired of constant self-care, watching what I eat, taking supplements at certain times, and honestly, I often just wish I had a normal way of being and a completely healed body, without that nagging thought of what will happen to me in the future.
So the practice of non-attachment, to me lately, is to just let go. Let go of the trying, the striving, and just let go of all outcomes. What if I just stopped caring? Caring enough to make all the right healthy choices, but dropping the constant thinking and feeling about the situation and letting it just be. To be present in the moment to find peace and joy instead of thinking into a future that we do not know about yet.
Faith comes into my story in a funny kind of way. I recently had to have my regular MRI scan. Before I went in, I asked my guardian to look after me, as I do not cope as well in hospital situations as I used to. So the lovely, kind man walked me into the room, and I think he said his name was Roman (a special name to me). I often find when I am in the hospital, the angels communicate in a way to let me know they are with me. I could not tell you how many nurses I have had with angel names, or religious names, or things that are my favourite things in the world.
As I entered the MRI machine, I was given a set of headphones, and a song came on. Another way that the angels communicate with me is via song. The song was ‘Have a Little Faith in Me’, and boy did I struggle not to weep. It was as if the creator had spoken and told me a huge lesson: Have faith in me, I will heal you, I will carry you, you are not alone.
