Have you ever noticed how much calmer you feel by simply stopping and taking a breath? 🌬

It’s very easy when we are busy or stressed to get into a state of over-breathing which can make us feel anxious and stressed. It’s so important to check-in regularly throughout your day and notice if this is happening, if it is then take a moment to reset your breathing which supports resetting your nervous system into a calmer state. Stop with me now and take three, slow, deep breaths – in and out - 😮‍💨

Want to take it a step further? Close your eyes while doing this and visualise settling into your happy place for a moment to help quieten your mind. I for example visualise myself lying in the sea. It’s so calming and I can feel my energy shift to feeling much calmer and my breathing slows down. When your breathing slows down your nervous system can reset now it knows you are safe.

Exciting News — We’ve Found Our Dream Home & Future Clinic Space!

I’m so excited to finally share that we’ve found our dream home - in Bruntwood Road, Tamahere! We decided to take the leap into lifestyle block living while we still could — and it already feels like the best decision we’ve made. We’ve been here for a few weeks now and are absolutely loving it.

One of the things I’m most thrilled about is that there is a separate building for my clinic, with the most beautiful outlook. It feels like such a peaceful and special space, and I can’t wait to share it with you all.

For the short term, we’ll still be working from Rototuna while we complete some alterations to the new clinic space. We’re hoping to move around the end of June or beginning of July, and of course we’ll keep you updated with all the details so you know exactly where to come for your appointments.

I’m really looking forward to welcoming you to our little piece of paradise soon 💚

Our gut is the critical part of us that is responsible for much of our immune system function because of its unique anatomy and microbiology 🧬In our gut we have hundreds of species of bacteria, fungi and viruses and having the right types and number of these microbes has a big influence on how strong our immune system will be.

The gut plays a critical role in maintaining a physical barrier between the inside of the body and the outside world. The gut lining is made up of specialised cells that help to absorb nutrients and keep harmful microorganisms and toxins out. What many of us don’t realise, is that what we are eating, how we are eating and what medications we take for example can negatively impact our gut health, leaving our gut in a poor state and not able to provide us with good immunity when the bugs invade.

As we head into the colder months, I’m talking to my clients about the importance of giving their immune system extra support. Even with a healthy diet, it can be difficult to get enough key nutrients at the levels needed to make a real difference.

Good quality vitamin D, vitamin C, zinc, and probiotics can play an important role in supporting immune health — but quality and dosage matter. Making sure you’re taking the right form and an effective dose can help your body stay resilient through winter.

If you’d like support to strengthen your immunity naturally, book a naturopathic consultation with me to assess your gut health and create a personalised plan tailored to you. Call 022 017 6033 or book online at https://www.thenaturopathicclinic.co.nz/

Let me explain how your body’s detox systems work with a simple analogy… 🛁
Imagine your body as a bathtub.

The clean water flowing in represents all the supportive things you give your body — nourishing food, clean water, movement, quality sleep, and supportive practices like saunas or Epsom salt baths.

At the same time, there’s also “dirty water” entering the tub — things like processed foods, sensitivities, environmental toxins, chemicals in personal care and cleaning products, and everyday stress.

Now think of the drain as your body’s natural detox pathways — your liver, bowels, kidneys, and skin. These systems are constantly working to clear things out.
But if the drain becomes sluggish or overwhelmed, that’s when you might start to notice symptoms like low energy, headaches, poor sleep, skin issues, digestive discomfort, or feeling generally “off.”

That’s why supporting your body isn’t something you do once a year — it’s about consistent, everyday habits. 🚫

Focus on what you’re adding in:
more hydration, more whole foods, more movement, more rest, and less of what doesn’t serve you.

Simple daily habits go a long way:
• Eat balanced, nourishing meals
• Stay hydrated
• Move your body regularly
• Prioritise sleep
• Be mindful of the products you use
• Create time to manage stress 😅

In my clinic, I work with clients to support their body in a gentle, personalised way. Depending on individual needs, this may include:
👉 Ionic foot baths
👉 Liver & gallbladder support
👉 Castor oil packs
👉 Targeted supplements
👉 Other supportive therapies

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach — the goal is to support your body at a pace that feels right for you.

Because when your body is supported consistently, it can do what it’s designed to do — naturally.

Testimonial from Adine:

"I went to Jenny because I was not getting clear answers from my gp and my symptoms kept recurring despite treatment.
Through Jenny’s use of kinesiology and prescribing supplements as well as lifestyle advice we have resolved my health concerns.
Filling out a detailed questionnaire about my health had me feeling optimistic, it showed her commitment to understanding the body as a whole and identifying the root cause of any issues.
Jenny’s holistic approach to health is truly reflected in the positive results I’ve received. I would recommend Jenny to anyone after my positive experience :)"

Thanks for sharing your experience Adine 🙂, Jenny.

Have you ever noticed that you get more muscle cramps and don’t sleep so well after having a binge on sugar?

Or similarly if you are in the habit of having a few too many coffees throughout the day?

I hate to break it to you, but if you excessively consume coffee and sugar on a regular basis, it can lead to flushing out of magnesium from your body!

Magnesium is a vital mineral that plays many essential roles in the human body, including blood pressure regulation, sleep, muscle contractions, blood sugar regulation and energy production.

Our body constantly uses magnesium to carry out these functions!

That’s why it is important to maintain adequate magnesium levels in the body by eating a balanced diet rich in high magnesium foods like leafy greens, cocoa, nuts and seeds alongside managing stress, and avoiding excessive sugar and caffeine consumption.

Magnesium is already a common mineral deficiency without flushing out what you have!

Some forms of magnesium I recommend for clients:
• Magnesium Malate: Great for energy, mood, and heart health
• Magnesium Citrate: Perfect for muscle health, constipation, and cardiovascular support
• Magnesium Glycinate: Excellent for sleep, anxiety, and PMS

Check in with yourself today to see what habits you might be able to shift in order to better protect your precious magnesium stores!

One of the simplest ways to support your health is completely free… grounding.

Grounding (or earthing) simply means connecting your body directly to the earth — like walking barefoot on grass, sand, or soil.

Research suggests this connection may help:
- Reduce inflammation
- Improve sleep
- Calm the nervous system
- Support circulation
- Reduce stress

In modern life we spend most of our time wearing shoes and indoors, disconnected from the earth. Just 10–20 minutes barefoot outside can help your body reset.

Simple ways to try it:
• Walk barefoot on the grass
• Sit outside with your feet on the ground
• Garden with bare hands
• Swim in the ocean
• Stretch or do yoga outside

Sometimes the most powerful health tools are the simplest ones
Do you ever walk barefoot outside? Tell me in the comments 👇

I’ve been putting this off for far too long, but last Monday I finally went and had a full skin check done.

I’ve got quite a few moles and hadn’t had them checked in years. With a family history of skin cancer — and living under the harsh New Zealand sun — I knew it was something I shouldn’t keep delaying. It felt like an important bit of self-care to tick off.

The appointment itself was quick and easy — about 30 minutes with the skin specialist. I also had an AI mole-mapping scan done, which means next time they’ll be able to track any changes or spot new ones early.

Definitely feeling relieved I got it done.

When was the last time you had your skin checked?
