𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟖, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 || The 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 (APHO), in collaboration with the 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐳𝐩𝐢 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞, successfully celebrated 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 at the Legazpi City Convention Center, carrying this year’s theme, “Healthy Lungs, Healthy Pilipinas!”

The celebration was conducted in partnership with the 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 (𝐃𝐎𝐇), 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 (𝐏𝐁𝐒𝐏), and 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧,and was attended by approximately 𝟒𝟎𝟎 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) from Albay and Legazpi City. The activity highlighted the vital role of BHWs as frontline partners in promoting lung health, strengthening disease prevention, and bringing essential health services closer to communities.

The program began with an invigorating Zumba activity, promoting physical fitness and healthy living among the participants. This was followed by an 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 (ACF) activity, providing accessible and comprehensive health services, including free 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐗-𝐫𝐚𝐲, 𝐬𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐓𝐮𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭 (𝐓𝐒𝐓), 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐫 (𝐅𝐁𝐒) 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐏𝐈𝐂𝐓, 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐬, and other essential health services.

The delivery of services was further strengthened through the participation of the province’s iDOTS facilities, including 𝐁𝐑𝐇𝐌𝐂, 𝐉𝐁𝐃𝐀𝐏𝐇, 𝐑𝐇𝐔 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐇𝐔 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧 whose health teams actively participated in the celebration and provided vital services to the attendees. Their involvement underscored the importance of an integrated and coordinated approach to tuberculosis prevention, detection, treatment, and overall lung health promotion.

The opening message was given by OIC–Provincial Health Officer 𝐃𝐫. 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐥 𝐌. 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐞 who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of collective efforts, strong partnerships, and active community involvement in protecting and promoting the health of the people.

𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐝 𝐆𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐳of the Legazpi City Health Office also delivered a message of support, reaffirming the commitment of the city health sector to advancing lung health and ensuring accessible health services for the community.

Representing Legazpi City Mayor Hisham Ismail, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐨, Executive Assistant to the City Mayor, likewise conveyed a message of support, highlighting the importance of strong collaboration among local government units, health partners, and communities in sustaining initiatives that promote health and well-being.

𝐌𝐬. 𝐆𝐚𝐲 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐚, the Provincial NTP Nurse Coordinator, discussed essential information regarding tuberculosis, covering the nature of the disease, its transmission, and preventive measures.

Beyond the delivery of health services, the celebration served as an expression of gratitude and appreciation to our Barangay Health Workers, whose dedication and tireless service continue to strengthen primary health care, support disease prevention and control programs, and serve as a vital link between health services and the communities they serve.

Through the continued collaboration of the Albay Provincial Health Office, Legazpi City Health Office, DOH, PBSP, Culion Foundation, iDOTS facilities, local government units, health workers, and community partners, we reaffirm our shared commitment to the prevention, early detection, and timely management of lung diseases and tuberculosis.

Together, let us protect every breath and build healthier, stronger, and healthier communities.

The 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐀𝐏𝐇𝐎) actively participated in the 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 conducted by the Bicol Regional Hospital and Medical Center (BRHMC) – Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in partnership with the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Daraga, on 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐚, 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐲.

The activity focused on increasing awareness and understanding of important reproductive health concerns that affect women, particularly conditions that may often be overlooked, misunderstood, or diagnosed late. The discussions covered early diagnosis and management of endometriosis, emphasizing the importance of recognizing symptoms and seeking appropriate medical care; risk factors and diagnosis of infertility, highlighting the different factors that may contribute to infertility and the importance of timely assessment; and Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) to Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (PMOS), providing participants with relevant information on conditions that can affect women's reproductive health and fertility.

Through its participation, the APHO supported efforts to strengthen reproductive health advocacy and promote greater awareness among women and the community. The activity also provided an avenue for collaboration among health professionals and local health stakeholders in addressing current reproductive health concerns and encouraging women to seek timely, appropriate, and accessible health services.

Ngayong Araw ng mga Bayani, ating alalahanin at parangalan ang mga bayaning nagbuwis ng buhay, tapang, at sakripisyo para sa ating kalayaan.

Kasabay nito, saludo tayo sa mga modernong bayani na patuloy na nagsisilbi nang tapat at may malasakit sa kapwa.

Sapagkat ang tunay na kabayanihan ay hindi lamang nasa pakikipaglaban, kundi sa pagpili ng tama, pagiging tapat, at pagprotekta sa kapakanan ng bayan.

𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢, 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐲 | 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟖, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — In support of the 2026 Breastfeeding Awareness Month celebration, the Polangui Nutrition Office, in collaboration with the Albay Provincial Health Office–Nutrition Program, conducted breastfeeding room monitoring at Xentro Mall Polangui to assess and strengthen the availability of a safe, comfortable, and supportive space for breastfeeding mothers.

The monitoring team assessed the breastfeeding room in terms of accessibility, privacy, cleanliness, comfort, ventilation, and overall suitability for mothers who need to breastfeed or express breast milk while in the mall. The activity also provided an opportunity to recognize existing good practices and identify areas for improvement.

During the monitoring, the team recommended several enhancements to make the breastfeeding room more comfortable, functional, and mother- and child-friendly. These included improving air ventilation and circulation, ensuring adequate lighting, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation, providing comfortable seating for mothers, and keeping the room easily accessible and clearly identified.

The team also emphasized the importance of maintaining the room as a dedicated breastfeeding and lactation space, free from unnecessary activities or storage that may compromise the comfort, privacy, and intended use of the facility. Regular monitoring and maintenance were likewise encouraged to ensure that the room remains clean, functional, and ready for mothers whenever needed.

The initiative reinforces the importance of Republic Act No. 10028, or the Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009, which promotes breastfeeding and the establishment of appropriate lactation stations in places where mothers may need to breastfeed or express breast milk.

As part of the campaign, the Albay Provincial Health Office–Nutrition Program provided breastfeeding Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials for display inside the breastfeeding room. These materials will provide mothers and families with accessible information and practical breastfeeding messages. A breastfeeding awareness tarpaulin was also provided for display within the mall to increase public awareness and reinforce the importance of breastfeeding support.

The activity highlights the value of collaboration among local government, health and nutrition offices, and private establishments in creating breastfeeding-friendly communities. Through continuous monitoring, technical assistance, and shared commitment, public spaces can become more responsive to the needs of breastfeeding mothers and their children.

𝑨𝒖𝒈𝒖𝒔𝒕 28, 2026 || The Rural Health Unit (RHU)–Polangui Nutrition Office, in collaboration with the Albay Provincial Health Office–Nutrition Program, conducted a Breastfeeding Awareness Month Campaign at Xentro Mall Polangui as part of the 2026 Buntis Congress.

The activity provided an avenue for pregnant women and participants to learn more about the importance of breastfeeding and the support mothers need throughout their breastfeeding journey.

The breastfeeding discussion was facilitated by 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐞 𝐑. 𝐎𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐚, 𝐑𝐍𝐃, followed by a Breastfeeding Support and Open Forum and Nutri Bingo, facilitated by 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬 𝐂. 𝐁𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐬, 𝐑𝐍𝐃 and 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐀. 𝐄𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐛𝐢𝐨, 𝐑𝐍𝐃. The activity concluded with a Breastfeeding Pledge, facilitated by 𝑴𝑵𝑨𝑶 𝑴𝒂. 𝑱𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒂 𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒗𝒆 𝑳. 𝑹𝒐𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒏, 𝑹𝑵, reinforcing the participants’ commitment to protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding.

To further strengthen the campaign, the Albay Provincial Health Office–Nutrition Program provided breastfeeding kits and shirts as augmentation support, while the RHU–Polangui provided breastfeeding bags and pillows for the participants.

More than a campaign, the activity highlighted an important message: 𝑏𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑓𝑒𝑒𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑜𝑙𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑝𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑜𝑓 𝑚𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑠. 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗚, 𝗔𝗟𝗕𝗔𝗬 —The 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲–𝗣𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗣𝗛𝗢-𝗣𝗗𝗗) successfully spearheaded the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 2026 on August 28 at the Rural Health Unit (RHU) Building in Camalig, Albay, bringing together health workers, service providers, and participants to promote informed and responsible family planning.

With the theme “𝑨𝒏𝒈 𝑺.𝑴.𝑨.𝑹.𝑻. 𝒏𝒂 𝑷𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚𝒂, 𝑷𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒐! 𝑻𝒂𝒓𝒂, 𝑼𝒔𝒂𝒑 𝑻𝒂𝒚𝒐 𝒔𝒂 𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈,” the activity was conducted in partnership with the Department of Health Center for Health Development Region V and the Local Government Unit of Camalig.

The program opened with message from Dr. Karl Hegel Ante, Albay Provincial Health Officer, A welcome message was also delivered by Vice Mayor Maria Ardhail Baldo, followed by the message of support from Dr. Jennifer N. Lapus, the Municipal Health Officer of Camalig and Assistant Regional Director of DOH CHD Bicol Joel H. Buenaventura highlighting the importance of family planning in helping individuals and couples make informed decisions about their reproductive health and family goals.

One of the highlights of the celebration was a Community Talk Show, which provided participants with an open and practical discussion on family planning and breastfeeding with health professionals serving as resource speakers.

The participants also took part in FP Pinoy Henyo, an interactive game designed to make learning about family planning more engaging. This was followed by a session on Family Planning Service Provision, such as Progestin Subdermal Implant Insertion and Removal, DMPA Injection, and FP Counseling services from the trained healthcare provider of Albay Provincial Health Office and RHU Camalig providing appropriate information and support to clients.

The successful conduct of the celebration reflects the continuing efforts of the Albay PHO-PDD and its partner agencies to bring family planning information and services closer to families and communities across the province.

The event concluded with the awarding of tokens and hygiene kits to the participants and closing remarks from the Municipal Family Planning Coordinator of Camalig, marking another successful joint effort toward promoting informed choices, responsible parenthood, and healthier families in Albay.

𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐒 𝐊𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐒 𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐆𝐍 | TIWI & CAMALIG, ALBAY

The 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐀𝐏𝐇𝐎) successfully conducted the Kilatis Kutis Campaign on 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟔–𝟐𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 in the municipalities of Tiwi and Camalig, Albay, reaching a total of 𝟏𝟎𝟒 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬.

The activity was conducted in coordination with the 𝐑𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐬 (𝐑𝐇𝐔𝐬) 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐢𝐰𝐢 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐠, providing skin health screening and assessment to leprosy patients currently undergoing treatment, their family members and close contacts, as well as individuals with various skin conditions.

Through early screening, proper assessment, and timely referral, the campaign aims to promote early detection and appropriate management of leprosy and other skin conditions, while helping reduce stigma and encouraging affected individuals to seek proper care and treatment.
