I tripped over my dreams
again last night
all scattered like wild confetti
across the floor
of what-I-thought-I-was-supposed-to-be.

They say you’re supposed
to stay on the path,
but no one mentions
how much magic
lives in the detour.

I once
followed the “should” so well
I forgot the sound
of my own soul laughing.
But oh how it cracked up
the first time I fell
face-first
into the mess
and found stardust
in the mud.

Love pie,
you are not broken.
You are brilliantly bent.
Twisted
by the winds of becoming,
cracked by light
so it could spill through.
What you thought
was a stumble
was the earth shifting
to show you
where your roots belonged.

Mistakes?
Ha.
They’re just the universe
trying to get your attention
with louder colors.
That heartbreak?
Led you to the poem.
That wrong turn?
Put you under the sky
just as it opened with fireflies.
That failure?
It tore the false
from your hands
and gave you something
real to hold.

You were never meant
to walk a straight line.
You were meant to dance,
to swerve,
to fly sideways
into a life
more honest
than the one you planned.

So bless the missteps.
Kiss the detours.
Thank every no,
every loss,
every beautifully botched attempt
for leading you here,
where the map ends
and the magic begins.

Play, joy, and love are biological necessities. 🧬
