Authentic me?

Somewhere between,
The me I perceive as me,
The me I am to others,
And the me I am striving to be,
Is the Me I truly Am.

But where am I?

Where is the line,
Between what is me,
And what is the learned
Parts of others,
That engulfed me,
As I was growing.

Where is the maturity,
That sheds the past,
Peels away the pain,
And admits to the trauma,
That so tragically shaped me.

Sometimes I think I got it,
Other times it disappears,
Each time it vanishes,
I get a deeper glimpse,
To who I am not,
And a clue to who I Am.

The Who that I Am,
Has developed over the years,
Quietly,
Discretely,
Hiding,
Waiting to arise.

It’s there in the silence
between the thoughts
Racing around
It’s there in prayer,
In meditation,
In faith,
In believing and knowing,
Something more is in there,
Guiding me,
Hand in hand,
Step by step,
Gently revealing,
A timeless selfless Love,
Which some call God,
Not only for me,
But for all,
No matter who they be,

I fear my past,
I fear my future,
I’m in love with my
present.

My present is overshadowed
By the tears and fears,
Of what time has and
What will bring.

Who I was is so much
pain,
Who I will be,
I do not know.

Will I be again the past,
An endless cycle of pain,
Or will my present
cocoon,
Of healing and shedding
What was,

Metamorphosize,
Into more than I can
dream?


Or is my present,
Just another face,
Of the hermit me,
Shrouding what was,
Until my future,
Again becomes my
past.

My present’s joy,
Makes me go deep,
Inside my inner Self,
Discovering why I was,
What caused it,
What shaped it,
What was failure
from the start.

And now,
Fresh air,
Breathes deep into my
being,
Will It turn into the
warmth
Of summer arising?

Will it continue,
Like this years spring,
Arriving,
Then departing?

What I have been learning,
In my present,
Has torn apart my soul.

The horrors I have been
through,
The things that I have seen,
Along with the me,
That isn’t me,
Makes me wonder,
How can the future.
Not be like what it was.

I turn to You,
Oh Eternal One,
To guide me
through and through,
To find the peace,
I sincerely seek,
With your Love through
Grace,
As I walk upon,
My tumultuous path.

Healing begins when you return to the Self,
When the outside world,
No longer feels safe,
And there’s nowhere else to go,
But to retreat to an inward flow.

To the You you once knew,
To the You you forgot,
To the You you still are,
To the You who has always been.

At first you feel a stirring,
Deep down within you soul,
Something different,
Something strange,
Something familiar,
Something cool.

It softly whispers to you,
Unveiling a path before unseen,
“I am here to guide you,
Through the wilderness of your mind.”

Continuing upon your journey,
Your guiding voice becomes more clear,
You learn more and more about you,
Sometimes easy, Sometimes hard.

The bestest part is the hard,
It brings you tears that turn to joy,
As you face the pain you buried deep,
That’s caused you so much harm.

The more you free the pain internal,
You feel lighter and calmly breathe,
Feeling a peaceful elation,
A new world you now do see.

Afterwards,
There are many pains,
You will have left to unfurl,
But your heart now knows,
And trusts the goal,
To release what was,
And embrace what is,
That leads you to,
The beautiful loving you.
