Monday with MedTreks! We are so pumped to have Dr. Harker and Dr. Martinez join as faculty on our Bhutan trip starting TODAY!! They took the reins on our first IWLS course in Antarctica this past February - and we are so stoked to have them part of our faculty family!

Dr. Donald Mario Robert Harker – Lead Faculty

Dr. Harker is a Family Medicine physician with fellowship training in Wilderness and Austere Medicine from the University of Nevada, Reno. His experience includes providing medical care at Great Basin National Park, training search and rescue personnel, and supporting international expeditions in Nepal. He currently practices as a hospitalist at Sierra Medical Center and continues to combine his love of the outdoors with wilderness and expedition medicine education.

Dr. Bridget Martinez – Faculty

Dr. Martinez is a physician-scientist, researcher, and medical innovator with extensive experience in global health, biomedical research, and medical technology. With nearly 100 peer-reviewed publications and five medical books, her work spans aging, neurodegenerative diseases, and medical device development. Her international research experience and passion for advancing medicine bring a unique perspective to the MedTreks educational experience.

We love being around long enough to watch travel trends - it is fascinating, dynamic (sometimes anxiety provoking!) but mostly really fun and interesting. For those of you who are interestd in our October Peru trip in 2027, it is pretty much FULL...but we may open another departure in May and we also offer the train trip instead of the Inca Trail hike...if you are interested and want to know more, give us a call! We are in the office and happy to chat through options.

One thing to keep in mind: Peru is a hot destination in 2027! So reserve your spots before Machu Picchu permits sell out ⛰️
