“In the beginning I felt guilty for being paid to precept, I’m not going to lie.” 💭

An NP student from Idaho is doing his rotation in Midland, Texas. 🚗

Before that, he’d been turned down by multiple people. ❌

Then he landed with Nicole, an NP at a pediatrics clinic there. 🩺

She only turns students away when she already has too many.

Her reason: “When I was doing my practicum, myself and other students had issues with preceptors, so I know how critical the need is for preceptors.” 💜

Nicole precepts through NPHub. Here’s what she wants students to know before they walk in:

📞 To reach a provider on your own, she says showing up at the office or calling and asking for the office manager works best.

📅 Communicate your schedule. Showing up whenever is one of the few things that would make her stop precepting.

⏰ Respect her time and schedule. She’s easygoing and laid-back, but not respecting her time is a dealbreaker.

👶 Come knowing what to expect from pediatric patients. She won’t turn you down for lack of experience, but that’s what she wishes students knew on day one.
