If you have Hashimoto’s, this is probably not the “thyroid support” you were expecting.
In a small study, women with Hashimoto’s-related subclinical hypothyroidism took 50 mL of an inner-leaf Aloe Vera juice every morning for 9 months.
By the end of the study:
TSH decreased 61%
TPO antibodies decreased 56%
Free T4 increased 23%
In plain English: researchers saw significant changes in both thyroid function and markers associated with thyroid autoimmunity.
Does that mean everyone with Hashimoto’s should go buy aloe juice?
No.
This was a small study, and the researchers used a specific aloe preparation. It doesn’t mean every aloe product will have the same effect.
But it’s a pretty interesting reminder that thyroid health is rarely as simple as taking another “thyroid support” supplement.
Nutrition, gut health, immune function, stress, sleep, nutrient status and your overall health history can all change the picture.
And if you’re dealing with thyroid symptoms and feel like you’re piecing together information from a hundred different places, that’s exactly what my 30-minute Starting Point Visit is for.
We talk through your main concerns, symptoms, health history and lifestyle, then get direction on where it makes sense to focus next.
