Nobody tells you that independence, for a lot of our kids, starts with something like putting on their own socks without asking for help three times first.

It's not always the big stuff. Sometimes it's ordering their own food at a restaurant. Sometimes it's just saying "no" when they mean it, instead of going along with something.
We celebrate all of it, the same way we'd celebrate anything else worth working toward.
